Job description
Roles and Responsibility• To verify through hand calculation, test or detailed FEA that Client equipment is fit for purpose based on all acting loadings scenario, using either first principals, or codified methods, for new or old equipment alike.
• To have a good understanding on the relevant codes and standards from BSI, DNV, ABS, ASME, API, NACE, NORSOK, etc.
• To have a good understanding of materials and their properties, including metallic and elastomeric materials, and their failure modes, and be able to design with these materials for static, dynamic and fatigue/cyclic loading.
• To have a good understanding of manufacturing methods such as fabrication, machining, assembly especially in terms of economic and efficient design for manufacture and industrialisation.
• To have a good understanding of verification test methods, such as pressure testing, materials testing, functional testing, factory acceptance testing, site integration testing, and non-destructive testing (and methods).
• To have a good ability to articulate work using documentation (reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, sketches), and an ability to review team members work, or 3rd parties in a professional constructive manner.
• To have a good understanding of solid/structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, loadings, and pressure.
• To have experience in at least one of the following; pipe stress analysis, pressure vessel analysis, CFD/thermo-fluids, structural analysis, etc. It is expected that at least one of the following CAE codes can be used such as CAESARII, PVELITE, STAAD, etc; local and global FEA using either ABAQUS, ANSYS, NASTRAN or MARC; Mechanical Design using either Inventor, Solid Works, Solid Edge, UG, etc. CFD/thermo-fluids with Flownex, Flowmaster, CRADLE, StarCCM, Fluent or similar.
• To have experience guiding, leading and teaching other engineers.
• To have an ability to estimate and plan work, and work to an agreed time and budget.
• To have an ability to work for a great team of people on a great product line
