Job description
- Responsible for the production and analysis of annual (sometimes quarterly) Cash Flow Testing Results (as per US Statutory Rules and Regulations) and Embedded Value for various line of businesses in US Market
- Responsible for monthly US GAAP valuation of Liabilities
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly deliverables for best-estimate liability cash flows and calculation of metrics like duration etc.
- Explain results to the stakeholders and logical answer to questions raised by Appointed Actuary with deep understanding of business economics
- Support in specification and validation of new valuation methodologies, Prophet models and product implementations;
- Support additional financial research, governance, controls, actuarial methods and standards used within assigned sub-region and insurance products;
Job Responsibilities
To support the delivery of the following objectives for US Business:
CFT, RBC, EV
- Timely and accurate delivery of the projected cash flows, balance sheet and PL;
- Timely and accurate analysis of surplus, reserves and attributions
- Explanation of variance between reported results and previous quarters/years;
- Error free, clear communication of results via reporting templates, memos, reports or presentations.
- Staying updated with changes in US-GAAP and Statutory guidelines on a regular basis
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of Position:
- Error free preparation of financial reports to required timescales and relevant actuarial standards;
- Execution of second-line data validation and completeness checks to required actuarial and audit standards.
- Contributing towards good team morale and positive team engagement and professional development.
- Ensuring excellent communication between Noida-based team and stakeholders based in US
- Taking demonstrable ownership of work; clearly flagging any issues and goal delivery concerns to senor leadership team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education
- A bachelors or masters university degree in Finance or quantitative field
Knowledge and skills (general and technical)
Essential experience, skills and competencies:
- Research into Asset-Liability modelling intricacies and able to validate system results through own logics
- Meticulous in the validation, presentation and communication of results;
- Respectful of deadlines, discipline and process, yet flexible and pragmatic within a growing business;
- Capable of working autonomously or with a team, and of balancing own initiative with advice from others;
- Able to navigate through complex problems and structures to achieve results and deliver solutions;
- Experience of USGAAP and Statutory rules and regulations and EV/VNB reporting (preferred);
- Demonstrable experience of insurance products sold by MetLife globally being a distinct advantage;
- A thorough knowledge of actuarial reporting across a wide range of product types: unit linked; creditor, individual protection and group business;
- Recent practical experience of financial / actuarial modelling systems (MG-ALFA, Prophet, etc.);
- Excellent Excel skills. (SQL VBA knowledge would be a plus)
Experience
- 2-3 years of actuarial experience in Life Insurance industry, preferably knowledge of US markets.
- Cleared 4-5 actuarial exams from IAI/IFoA
