Job description

Excellent Linux server and Webhosting experience. Proficiency in Xen, VMware and Linux / Windows technologies.

o Advanced troubleshooting in respect to cPanel/Plesk panel related issues. o Perform security audits and updates on Linux/ Windows servers. o Troubleshooting a variety of technical & non-technical issues customers are having with their web hosting plans & services. o Providing technical support for Level II issues via helpdesk o Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. o Monitoring servers for stability & taking both proactive & reactive measures to correct & prevent issues. o Providing fellow system administrators & support representatives with technical support & guidance. o Assisting clients in transferring accounts to ours servers. o Installing, configuring, & maintaining services such as Apache, MySQL, MSSWL, Exim & Smarter mail on servers o Expected to train other employees in the use of advanced programs. o Must be comfortable with CLI, and perform a major task using CLI. o Work efficiently with minimal guidance from Senior or Lead administrators. o Provide technical support and customer service directly to customers. o Monitoring and responding to alerts from applications and infrastructure systems. o Discover and communicate potential service problems by identifying patterns occurring across separate help desk tickets and customer reports. o Advanced knowledge of cPanel/WHM control panel. o Advanced knowledge of the Linux operating system. o Knowledge of bash & Perl shell scripting. o Advanced knowledge of Exim, Apache, DNS & MySQL. o Flexible schedule. Be able to work independently, unsupervised and manage their own time, tasks and responsibilities. o Be comfortable dealing with Dedicated & Custom setup clients. o Demonstrate experience identifying issues, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and carrying them through to resolution. o Display a passion for technology and proactively keep up to date with emerging technologies and practices. o Excellent communication skills for direct interaction with internal & external teams. o Performing scheduled maintenance & re-structuring tasks designed to improve performance & maximize available resources. o Ability to work on multiple incidents & complete simultaneous projects in a timely manner. o Excellent analytical & problem solving skills. Understanding of complex information & requirements. o Good prioritization skills & be flexible enough to adapt plans. o Possessing troubleshooting skills in network connectivity, including LAN, WAN & TCP/IP technology. o Server Security Hardening, Patch management etc. experience. o Well versed with Mail Servers, Database Servers, DNS, etc. o Have a strong understanding of incident SLA management & ITIL concepts. o Proficiency supporting a complex, high volume transactional web server environment o Assist in the continual improvement of the infrastructure, network monitoring & alerting systems. o Technical expertise to system administrators on Linux Server Administration o Monitor systems for equipment failure, errors in performance & hardware failures. o Apply patches to major subsystems & services, roles, & file system components within Linux Systems environment, o Create technical documentation for a technical audience. o Provide technical support & customer service directly to customers. o Monitoring & responding to alerts from applications & infrastructure systems. o Work efficiently with minimal guidance from Senior or Lead administrators. o Deploy, support, & apply necessary configurations for third party web applications. o Secure web servers by applying appropriate system access levels. o Server maintenance based on updates, data usage, & antivirus requirements. o Work non-traditional hours & respond to on-call requests to provide 24 x 7 service availability. o Provide support for technology projects as required to include OS & application patching, network testing, etc. o Responsible for project management and/or execution of special projects in & on premises. o Actively contribute to ongoing process improvement, problem resolution & workflow improvements. o Participate internal meetings such as attending internal customer transition meetings leading customer support discussions, actively engaging in reviews & reporting. o Responsible for training new & existing team members. o To assist with regular audits & preparation of audits. o The ability to work on your own initiative coordinating the shift, being thorough & accurate in all documentation. o Perform security audits & updates on Linux. o Ability to work independently or with little supervision in a structured, methodical manner. o Display a passion for technology & proactively keep up to date with emerging technologies & practices. o Ability to capture technical details to write documentation & procedures. Document internal & external correspondence for incident resolution including solutions, procedures & standards o Demonstrate experience-identifying issues, troubleshooting, diagnosing, & carrying them through to resolution.
