Job description

  1. Lab Maintenance and Organization:
    • Ensure the science laboratory is clean, safe, and organized.
    • Regularly inspect and maintain lab equipment, such as microscopes, Bunsen burners, glassware, and chemicals.
    • Arrange lab benches, tables, and equipment for experiments and demonstrations.
    • Restock and order supplies as needed.
    1. Safety Management:
    • Enforce safety guidelines and protocols within the lab.
    • Train students on proper lab safety procedures and the use of safety equipment.
    • Maintain safety data sheets (SDS) for all chemicals and materials.
    • Respond promptly to any accidents or safety concerns.
    1. Lab Assistance:
    • Assist science teachers in setting up experiments and demonstrations.
    • Provide guidance to students on proper laboratory techniques and procedures.
    • Prepare and distribute materials and equipment for lab activities.
    1. Inventory Management:
    • Maintain an inventory of chemicals, reagents, and lab supplies.
    • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies in a timely manner.
    • Keep records of all equipment and materials in the laboratory.
    1. Equipment Repairs:
    • Perform minor equipment repairs and troubleshoot technical issues.
    • Arrange for professional maintenance or repairs when necessary.
    1. Waste Management:
    • Properly dispose of hazardous materials and waste following established protocols.
    • Coordinate with waste disposal services as needed.
    1. Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
    • Generate reports as required by school administration.
    1. Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with science teachers and other staff to support science education.
    • Assist in the development of lab-related curricular materials and experiments.
    1. Professional Development:
    • Stay updated on safety procedures, new equipment, and advancements in laboratory technology.
    • Attend workshops or training sessions as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology. (A degree in a related field is a plus).
    • Previous experience in a school or laboratory setting is preferred.
    • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
    • Familiarity with basic scientific equipment and materials.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
