ORG UNIT : Technology & Innovation, Chemicals 

LOCATION (CITY/COUNTRY) : Bengaluru, India

HIRING MANAGER : General Manager, Chemicals Technology & Innovation

Job Summary:

Leads the Global team focused on developing programs which enable growth for the Chemicals SBU. Accountable for the creation and delivery of a portfolio of research and development programs. Formulates team strategy to align with business goals, defines and procures needed resources, manages a deck of projects, and makes decisions related to project execution, budgets, and partnerships. Collaborates globally with business counterparts, cross-functional team members, SABIC Corporate Technology & Innovation, and external partners to deliver planned business results. Regularly communicates progress and needs with Leadership, peer stakeholders, and the broader SBU community.

How You Can Be the Impact:

• Leads and grows a highly motivated, impactful, innovative research and development organization to deliver a portfolio of programs, which support globally
• Performs training and regular communication to team members regarding safety and compliance guidelines; ensures team members consistently follow these guidelines; actively evaluates and addresses safety or compliance risks for all team members
• Lead (create, coordinate, execute) platforms project portfolio of short & medium term projects to match Chemicals SBU strategy, focusing on Carbon Neutrality, Plastic Waste Recycling and Liquid to Chemicals technologies.
• Develops, coaches, and manages T&I talent. This includes identifying succession plans, recruiting/onboarding new employees, optimizing team dynamics, completing performance evaluations and owning the team TRP process
• In collaboration with internal stakeholders, plans strategies, executes projects, and designs processes that meet requirements of new and existing products. Deploy new technologies - as developed in platforms or from external - in our assets, with focus on KSA.
• Protects business interests and ensures intellectual property is safeguarded
• Oversees coordination with other labs, universities, and partners to set up/execute programs

What Matters to SABIC

• Strong knowledge in process engineering and technology development. MSc or PhD in process engineering /chemistry / catalysis with proven record of accomplishment in chemical industry.
• Proven record of accomplishment in leading larger teams and people development.
• 10-15 years’ experience in chemical industry.
• Extensive working experience on different petrochemical processes & process development in industrial environment.
• Extensive experience in new technology development on conceptual and pilot plant level.
• Extensive experience in managing and developing larger teams.
• Conceptual process thinking combined with in-depth process and chemistry thinking
• Driving safety & compliance
• Inspiring leader for the team
• People developer
• Result orientation: bring initiatives to end, Good communicator to all stakeholders (with cultural awareness)

Work Availability

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work (e.g. Monday – Friday)] during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs
