About Aladdin Data (AD)
Data is at the heart of Aladdin and increasingly the ability to acquire, store, analyse and gain insight from data has become a key component of our competitive advantage. The Aladdin Data (AD) team is responsible for the data ecosystem within BlackRock. Our goal is to build and maintain a leading-edge Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) that provides highly available, consistent data of the highest quality for all users of the platform, notably investors, operations teams and data scientists.
EDP supports four outcomes that, together, enable BlackRock’s data strategy:
Provide high quality, reliable data and services to power the core investment processes for Aladdin clients
Enable Aladdin clients to reduce operational overhead and improve client service by offering Aladdin data through a commercial data warehouse, Aladdin Data Cloud (ADC)
Allow non-Aladdin BlackRock teams to focus on value generation, by providing a general purpose data warehouse platform
Empower teams across BlackRock to produce data products to monetize their data and analytical model
Members of the AD team get to experience working at one of the most recognized financial companies in the world while being part of a team responsible for designing and building the next generation Enterprise Data platform, which is designed to automate data acquisition, ingestion, transformation, and distribution processes to handle enterprise wide data processing capabilities. Our product managers and engineers design and build data systems to solve some of the most complex technical and business problems in the investment management industry, and they partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high quality analytical and derived data to our consumers.
About this role
We are looking for a technical writer to help enable the continued growth and adoption of EDP across BlackRock. In this role, you will create clear and concise documentation that enable teams to more easily understand and adopt EDP. Working closely with our product management and engineering teams, you will be responsible for translating complex technical information into user-friendly guides, manuals, and other documentation to help our customers create business value with our products.
Responsibilities:
Create documentation:
Organize and refine pre-existing documentation to be more accessible and understandable.
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and document an accurate representation of EDP’s features and capabilities.
Work with product teams to create materials to simplify and communicate challenging technical concepts.
Produce comprehensive and user-friendly documentation for EDP, including user guides, API documentation, and release notes.
Assist in creating troubleshooting guides and FAQs to enable users and support teams to resolve common issues.
Maintain the content library:
Work closely with the product and engineering team to stay informed about upcoming releases and changes to EDP.
Regularly review and update documentation to reflect changes in EDP features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
Review user inquiries and concerns with support teams to identify and resolve problem areas in the EDP documentation.
Perform regular quality assurance:
Participate in product testing to gain hands-on experience with EDP and verify the accuracy of documentation.
Conduct reviews and audits of documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to organization and style guidelines.
Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Proficiency in documentation tools and technologies (e.g., Confluence, Word, PowerPoint, Miro).
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Familiarity with data warehouse-related concepts, including databases, data controls, and analytics is a plus.
