The Associate Research Scientist role includes carrying out timely Product & Process Developments for Label and Packaging material & Graphics business (which includes Hotmelt/ EM & Solvent acrylic based adhesive products) in accordance with DDOS/Stage gate processes in line with the PLT team and AOP needs..
Own & manage the regular project calls with cross-functional teams & update A3 Project plans & Timelines; CTQs; Specifications; Material & application test plans; Stage-Gate Reports and Reviews.
Able to collaborate & manage cross-functional teams, contact manufacturers, and suppliers for smooth execution of projects.
Ready to stretch self and willing to travel to manufacturing locations as and when required for project trials and scale up
Be a quick learner and understand all the processes and systems in a short period of time
Establish self as go-to person and SME for all queries and have hands-on experience in / paper / film / silicone / adhesive / liner components, testings and other aspects of PSA products and laminates.
Able to analyze testing data and advice or take necessary action for any improvement desired.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead, execute & commercialize projects as per timeline.
Arrange RMs as per the trial plan at manufacturing/locations and execute trials as per planning.
Test & analyze the trial products/ benchmark products/reference products as per test protocol
Follow established procedures and update documentation related to projects.
Lead Graphics related calls from R&D with cross functional teams & partners.
Work closely with operations/process/QC for any improvement identified or desired at contact manufacturer or toller management system
Establish technical specifications of new products.
Qualify new raw material and/or new suppliers
Lead trials and coordinate across relevant functions for trial success, analyze trial reports and assist in resolving any obstacles related to the project qualification.
Advice in solving customer complain to quality and cross functional team for identifying root causes and corrective actions.
Provide expertise for technical problems, troubleshoot product and modify/customize product as needed to meet customer needs and requirements.
Gain preliminary understanding of regulatory/compliance requirements related to product and market applications.
Manage the Processes used for development including VoC/CTQs; New Raw Material & Laminate Specs & Tracking Development projects.
Develop qualification protocol of all new raw material components.
Establish technical specifications of new raw material and handover the quality control of new raw materials to Quality Assurance (QA) Department.
Work with the PLT team for the transition and/or launch of products using new raw material.
Work with Supply Chain Management (SCM) team and/or Global/Regional Component Expert in assessing technical capabilities and development of potential suppliers of new raw material.
Analyze and identify performance gaps between the performance of existing product construction and how customers & end-users expect it to perform. Determine necessary actions to improve the performance of existing product construction to meet with customers & end-users requirements.
Cross-functionally work with SCM and Operation team in executing the product performance improvement project and ensure that the project timeline is on track.
Masters degree or higher in Chemistry or Engineering, Material Characterisation or Polymer Sciences disciplines
Required min 5 years of related R&D /Technical experience from PSA or Allied industries.
