Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Mechanical Supervisor to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity to develop your career within a Global TIC business.

This position will be based in Ghatkopar West in Mumbai.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, supervising, and controlling all activities related to mechanical and metallurgical testing in the areas of - Room Temperature Tensile testing, Elevated Temperature Tensile testing, Hardness (Rockwell & Brinell) Izod/ Charpy Impact testing ,using internal procedures and published industry methods
  • Maintain qualifications to perform these tests and use calibrated hand tools such as micrometer, caliper, compass, and ruler to take measurements and record them into the test records , ensuring that all equipment (standards) used for performing tests are calibrated prior to use
  • Manage third party witnesses for testing $ calibration activities and record & maintain maintenance, calibration history of the lab equipment
  • Create quotations and/or assist with the technical review of quotations for Mechanical value stream orders and supervise in the areas of client liaison and care
  • Manage , train and mentor a team of Sr and Jr Mechanical technicians and junior metallurgists while reporting to the section manager to manage the laboratory's business operationally
  • Mainten of Health and Safety and Quality standards within NABL accredited 17025 quality management systems
  • Head the overall responsibility for timely sample turnaround and customer satisfaction

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Materials Science with relevant experience in third party testing laboratory for a minimum of 5 years and preferably having LIMS experience
  • Strong background with mechanical testing and evaluation and familiar with all methods of mechanical lab analytical and method testing for tensile, hardness, impact, bending
  • Should have experience in performing welding jobs and heat treatment jobs as per international standards and customer specifications for assessment of mechanical properties
  • Should have previous experience dealing with NABL audits
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent organizational and communication skills in English and Marathi , with the ability to work under pressure to meet targets , having proven ability to read, understand and interpret program or test requirements and able to analyse and translate into finished testing or report data
