We are seeking a Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent or contract basis. You will work on a Hybrid working pattern.  The head office is based in the Lancashire area, where site presence is required 2 days every 2 weeks.


This role will support remote working and can be based anywhere in the UK as long as the onsite requirement can be fulfilled. Salary:  £ Negotiable + an excellent set of benefits including:

The Role:

The Design Engineer will be conducting installation design for stress analysis of the fluid systems from concept schematic draft level to detail maturity level.  You will be responsible for designing and developing efficient fuel systems for aircraft.



Key responsibilities include:

1D Model preparation from schematic level performance model. Developing detail 3D fuel system model using Siemens NX design software.

Method development for translating data and interfaces from NX to the CAEPIPE or relevant piping software.

Modelling, analysis and simulation of the fluid systems using CAEPIPE software or relevant.

Understanding and deriving AeroSystems loading conditions, load cases and combinations.

Conducting linear, non-linear static and fatigue analysis of fuel systems and components.

Hand calculation to verify, validate and justify computational finite element analysis and results Basic knowledge in fluid flow behaviour and prediction techniques is advantageous but not essential.

Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integration of the fuel system with the overall aircraft structures and systems.

Writing technical reports including system requirements, design specifications, test plans and reports detailing the analysis methods and results

 

The Person

The Design Engineer must possess the drive and discipline to operate on a remote hybrid basis with very limited travel required to support the onsite demand of 2 days per 2 weeks basis.


You will be a self-starter who is able to utilise your experience and knowledge within the design function to support the development of efficient fuel systems on aircraft. You shall be expected to possess a good understanding of aircraft fluid systems, CAD Design, Pipe Modelling, Pipe Analysis and CFD.


The successful individual will have excellent communication skills in order to operate effectively with both internal and external customers to facilitate problem solving, simplify and provide sound engineering action plans.



Experience Required for the Design Engineer:

Aeronautical/Mechanical/Fluid/ CFD Stream or relevant experience in a related industry, preferably aircraft but not essential.

Strong knowledge of fuel systems, fuel storage, distribution and transfer.

Product design / Installation design using NX CAD or relevant software.

Pipe modelling, analysis and optimisation using a Piping software.

Analytical calculation and methods development skills.

Good Verbal and written English skills.

Siemens NX CAD, CAEPIPE or relevant pipe modelling and analysis software
