Job description
The Credit and Risk Manager plays a pivotal role in steering the organization's credit and risk functions, divided into two primary verticals: Credit Underwriting Operations and Risk Monitoring and Analytics. This position requires a strategic leader keen to grow into a CRO role and capable of managing both verticals effectively to ensure the organization's financial health and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities - Credit Underwriting Operations:
- Oversee the hiring, training, and monitoring of the credit underwriting team to achieve target productivity and Turn-Around-Time (TAT) outcomes.
- Ensure the credit underwriting process aligns with established timeframes and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), optimizing for efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide the underwriting team with the necessary knowledge, resources, and support to evaluate complex credit applications efficiently.
- Review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline processes, reduce errors, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Risk Monitoring and Analytics:
- Monitor portfolio performance across various risk segments to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to evolve credit policies based on analytical insights, ensuring they remain effective and responsive to market conditions.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in credit management and risk analytics, sharing knowledge and insights with the team.
- Product and Policy Development:
- Spearhead the launch of new credit products, ensuring they meet market needs while aligning with the company's risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Own and manage lender relationships, focusing on policy alignment and efficient disbursement processes, to support the supply side of the business.
- Stakeholder Management and Reporting:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including lending partners, to ensure smooth and efficient credit operations.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on credit performance, risk exposure, and policy evolution.
Qualifications - Proven experience in credit management and risk analysis, with a strong background in credit underwriting operations and risk monitoring at a bank, NBFC or fintech. SME lending experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams towards achieving business goals.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in credit and risk management.
