Data Engineering Manager – Semantics
Location – Hyderabad #LI Hybrid
About the Role:
Act as a technical expert in data engineering & management to the team. Collaborate with business partners, data scientists and IT teams to create and implement world class data products and solutions. Act as a hands-on engineer in curating data, onboarding data assets to the FAIRification process and managing data quality and standards.
Manage quality and consistency of NBS CONEXTS data services delivery to all collaborators. Deliver on data strategy priorities and DLC activities in an AGILE manner with appropriate documentation and communication throughout the delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review, curate and improve the existing lists of controlled vocabularies and ontologies spanning over several business domains
• In close collaboration with our IT partners, propose a roadmap to:
Improve the technological stack enabling semantic resources ingestion, management and provisioning
Establish an ontology/taxonomy matching/mapping pipeline to integrate similar vocabulary lists at enterprise scale
Perform mapping/matching of multiple ontologies/taxonomies used by different user groups across the organization
• Integrate these semantic resources to the Master Data Management system to widespread adoption by global and local data users
• Manage quality and consistency of NBS CONEXTS data services delivery to all partners
• Ensure compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements and continuous improvement of quality relevant processes within area of responsibility
• Deliver on data strategy priorities and DLC activities in an AGILE manner with appropriate documentation and communication throughout the delivery of services.
Role Requirements
Essential Requirements:
• Education: (minimum/desirable): PhD/Master’s in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science or related field
• 7-10 years of experience as an Ontologist or equivalent knowledge management position using semantic data modeling, data mapping, ontology/taxonomy creation, management, integration and publication
• Has expertise of working with RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS standards as well as SPARQL query language
• Experienced with using triple stores, ontology management platforms and associated tool stacks. Ease with iterative way of working following an agile methodology.
• Ability to focus on details with resilience to change and pressure. Maintains high personal quality standards.
Desirable requirements:
• Has hands-on experience in any of the following domains: biomedical research & development, pharmaceutical products commercialization or production
• Good communication skills, ability to engage and coordinate small workgroup beyond organizational structures
