Barry Wehmiller Design Group is looking for Technical Writer-I to join our dynamic team and embark on a rewarding career journey
- Content Creation: Produce clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, release notes, troubleshooting guides, and online help systems
- Research and Information Gathering: Collaborate with subject matter experts, software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather technical information and understand complex concepts, features, and processes
- Document Organization: Organize and structure documentation to ensure logical flow and ease of use
- Create and maintain a consistent and user-friendly documentation structure and format
- Writing and Editing: Write and edit technical content, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to established standards
- Simplify complex information and communicate it effectively to the target audience
- Review and Revision: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and revise documentation, incorporating feedback and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Content Management: Maintain a document repository, version control, and document lifecycle management system
- Update and manage existing documentation to reflect product changes and updates
- Usability and User Experience: Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to improve the quality and usability of technical documentation
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product management, and other teams to understand product features, updates, and changes
- Participate in meetings and discussions to gather information and clarify technical details
- Documentation Standards: Follow established documentation standards, style guides, and best practices
- Contribute to the development and improvement of documentation processes and standards
- Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to technical writing
- Continuously enhance your knowledge and skills to improve the quality of documentation
- Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in a software development or technology-focused environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely
- Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems
- Familiarity with software development processes and an understanding of programming concepts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team
- Experience with version control systems and collaboration tools is a plus
- Knowledge of HTML, XML, or other markup languages is desirable
