Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development and Sales professional to join our team Fluence India in the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). As a key member of our company, you will be responsible for harnessing and cultivating relationships in the industry, building strategic partnerships, and expanding our presence in the BESS market.

This position will report into the Chief Commercial Officer. This role requires an autonomous and pragmatic individual who has experience working in a matrixed and virtual environment, working with multiple stakeholders, working on multiple projects/tasks at one time, and working as part of a global team.

Experience within Energy Storage is an advantage but is not mandatory, Deep exposure in Renewable Energy Industry preferably with one of the large IPPs, an agile mindset and comfort working in a fast-paced start-up technology led environment is essential.

Responsibilities

 

Identify and seize new and emerging opportunities for energy storage and find innovative ways to unlock market for energy storage. Model customer business cases and quantify differentiated value for Fluence India to go after these specific market and customer segments. 

· Provide valuable insights to the management team to enhance our competitive positioning. Analyze and interpret market trends and provide feedback for technology, pricing, warranty terms, financial products, product development, new lines of business, etc.

· Be a leading contributor to our product marketing efforts, including target segments and market sizing.

· Develop strong collaborative efforts across Fluence global sales, product, services, project delivery, customer satisfaction and other colleagues. Be a dedicated support for the commercial team in overall performance of India on various aspects including sales, delivery, and services.

· Lead industry efforts to remove barriers to BESS as an mainstream resource, improve policy and regulation, and enhance the value case for energy storage.

· Educate customers and stakeholders on the benefits of energy storage. Enable transition of key customers down the sales pipeline.

· In partnership with the growth team, Implement go to market strategies to create access to specific customer segments for energy storage.

· In partnership with the growth team, form and maintain constructive working relationships with electricity industry stakeholders, including utilities, regulators, other government officials, NGOs and customers.

· In partnership with the growth team, prepare strategic India market plans that outline approach for access to key customers and applications.

· Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers. Understand their unique needs and work with internal stakeholders specially with technical and operation & maintenance teams and offer tailor BESS solutions to meet their specific requirements.

· Prepare persuasive and customized proposals for potential clients (scope, key terms and conditions including warranties and testing), highlighting the advantages and benefits of our Battery Energy Storage Systems.

· Understanding and comfort with the various tenders in BESS at the Central and State level.

· Prepare, negotiate and close definitive agreements for supply, commission services and operation and maintenance for BESS.

· Networking and Events: Attend relevant industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to raise our profile and establish strategic partnerships within the storage renewable power sector.

· Sales Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to evaluate success and identify areas for improvement. Generate regular reports for management review.

· Policy and Regulations: Stay informed about the latest policies, incentives, and regulations related to renewable energy and energy storage, and apply this knowledge to guide business development decisions.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in a renewable energy sector, and/or battery storage related field and overall 10-15 years of experience. An ability to interact in a multicultural environment, travel and to work under pressure are also very important.

In addition, qualified candidates will have:

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent will be advantageous.

· Proven deep experience in business development and sales within the renewable power sector, with a focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) would be preferrable but not necessary.

· Knowledge of energy storage technologies, particularly BESS, and their integration with renewable power projects.

· Thorough knowledge of BESS tenders with experience in diligent evaluation of all requirements, technical or commercial, and appropriate inclusion in commercial offers.

· Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

· Demonstrated track record of converting sales opportunities into business deals and driving business growth.

· Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in resolving disagreements and distilling complicated topics to a broader audience.

· Entrepreneurial drive and ability to prioritize and execute on many tasks in parallel.

· Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English with the ability to connect with customers & co-workers across levels.

· Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and policies in the industry.

· Proficiency in financial analysis using Microsoft Excel, and relevant sales tools with excellent presentation skills.
