Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Monitoring:Conduct comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients and continuously monitor their vital signs
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team:Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care conferences
- Medication Administration:Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols
- Monitor for potential medication side effects and complications
- Critical Interventions:Perform advanced nursing interventions in response to critical situations
- Assist in emergency procedures, including code blue responses
- Patient and Family Education:Provide clear and compassionate explanations of medical conditions, treatment plans, and procedures to patients and their families
- Offer support and address concerns during challenging times
- Documentation:Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records of patient assessments, interventions, and responses
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards and regulations
- Infection Control:Adhere to infection control protocols to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections
- Implement and monitor isolation precautions when necessary
- Quality Improvement:Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the Critical Care Unit
- Participate in audits, research projects, and the implementation of evidence-based practices
