Job Overview:

Pratt & Whitney India Engineering Center (IEC) is looking for a highly motivated Repair Engineer to join our Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) Commercial Repairs team. This position involves developing repairs to ensure they meet original equipment manufacturing (OEM) requirements, supporting customer safety, cost, and reliability objectives. ASE is uniquely linked between the engine development / certification and aftermarket and field support engine life cycles. This results in our repairs having a direct impact on the bottom line of Pratt & Whitney's maintenance repair and overhaul revenue and success. The Repair Engineer closely interacts with fellow ASE engineers from design, structures, project, and program, along with other module center engineers from the CIPT and design metallurgy, among others, to develop technical data to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research operating environments and functionality of components, interactions with mating parts; develop strategies which will return nonconformance hardware back to service via development of repairs technical requirement
  • Establish that the technical data requirements are compliant to airworthiness standards and ensure repairs and limits are safe, durable, properly substantiated meeting the quality requirements of the component; perform or oversee analysis, as required
  • Establish repair concepts, design and regulatory validation substantiation requirements for technical data needs relating to repairs.
  • Author part level and assembly level component repairs and other technical data / procedures
  • Research and review source processes for alignment to published technical data. Analyze operating trends and develop innovative repair strategies.
  • Obtain internal technical approvals, required regulatory approval and coordination with the end user.
  • Support investigations of engine field events requiring safety risk analysis, root cause and corrective actions as it relates to repair. Utilize modeling tools to understand critical part characteristics and generating figures and other repair requirements
  • Continuously develop or improve repair development processes and Engineering Standard Work
  • Continue to develop an improved personal understanding of the technologies, engine systems, business systems, regulations and business needs of the company and customers

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 to 8 years of experience with a Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Production)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of or preferably experience with manufacturing processes such as, machining, plating, plasma spray, or brazing
  • Experience in an aerospace overhaul environment such as assembly and disassembly of aircraft power plants
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial gas turbine engines
  • Able to manage numerous projects, and organization skills.
  • Assertive and results-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Raytheon Technologies CORE Operating System
