Job description
- Construct and solve advanced, high-quality CFD models of compressor components and assemblies; through this analysis provides recommendations to Product Engineering on the adequacy of the design for given application and how to improve or reduce part costs.
- Use closed form hand calculation methods to verify analysis techniques.
- Write standard analysis procedures for all analyses performed in Applied Mechanics.
- Use analysis results to develop parametric charts for product engineering use.
- Be current with software used by:
- Receiving advanced training as necessary.
- Building network of resources (eg. ANSYS, Siemens, Open Foam, etc.).
- Evaluate existing capabilities in FLUENT, CFX, Open FOAM for possible use in Applied Mechanics projects.
- Create application examples, validations and model/test correlations and
- Write reports summarizing the analysis and recommendation using standard report formats which are in English for global consumption
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor s degree in mechanical aerospace, Civil Engineering or closely related field required plus a minimum of five years related experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 5 years related experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- 5+ years relevant ANSYS CFX, Fluent simulation experience
- Understands underlying mechanical, physical and numerical principals (fluid, thermal, single phase, multi-phase, mesh dynamics).
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE:
- Have strong skills in grid generation and meshing techniques (Workbench Meshing) for various fluid domains.
- Must know best practices and procedures for using FLUENT and CFX capabilities.
- Better than average computer skills (for an engineer) and programming skills in any of the following: J-scrip, Python, APDL, C#, VB, .NET, C++.
- Have Strong interpersonal skills and be fluent in written and verbal English language.
