Lifecycle Assessment Expert

Location – Hyderabad #LI Hybrid

About the Role:

Drive and support environmental performance by seamlessly collaborating, internally and externally, for Operations to deliver sustainable long-term growth, using innovative & green solutions, while making a positive impact on patients and society as a whole. Implement and maintain processes and procedures which ensure timely reporting on Environmental KPIs across all internal manufacturing sites, offices and labs. Undertake carbon footprint and lifecycle assessments for our products, identify environmental sustainability hot spots and drive optimization programs to ensure we remain on track to deliver our net-zero target. Ensure preparedness with respect to existing and emerging regulations like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Green Taxonomy and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) climate related disclosure regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive execution and delivery of environmental sustainability targets of Novartis across climate, waste, and water
• Drive comprehensive environmental life cycle assessment of commercial pharmaceutical products of Novartis in line with guidelines such as ISO 14044, PAS 2050
• Drive projects to ensure adherence and preparedness to comply with emerging regulations like EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Green Taxonomy, Article 964 (Swiss regulations), international regulations like the UK National Health Service Guidelines etc
• Support the disclosure of product environmental footprint related information for national level procurement programs
• Build the operating model to seamlessly execute Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the commercial brands of Novartis
• Leverage life cycle assessment to drive product footprint optimization plans and evaluate the environmental impact of different initiatives over short/medium/ long term.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:

• MBA/ Master of Technology/ PHD with university degree in chemical engineering/ pharmaceutical engineering, technology or other related natural/technical field. Advanced degree is highly desirable.
• Overall relevant work experience of about 8-10 years, ideally at multi-national organizations in conducting environmental life cycle assessment for products in line with international standards (experience of doing such assessments for pharmaceutical products preferred)
• Understanding of running simulations in recognized life cycle assessment software
• At a minimum, fluency (speaking and writing) in English required. Working knowledge of additional languages desirable (e.g. German, French. Spanish, Mandarin).
• Good communication skills, proactivity, self-initiative. Ability to operate in a global matrix environment.
