Job Title: Advanced R&D Engineer
Job Location: Plot No. F-27, MIDC, Ranjangaon, Taluka- Shirur, Pune, India, 412220.
Job Summary The candidate will develop new products with a vision on the sustainable use of thermoplastics in the growing automotive industry and contribute to intellectual property via patents & trade secrets. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to commercialize these products and support the business by identifying opportunities for growth.
Essential Functions - The candidate is expected to work closely with automotive OEMs and their Tiers to translate functional requirements into technical specifications
- Use a variety of sources and ideation techniques to develop new technology concepts that enable new product properties as well as applications
- Develop and optimize differentiated material solutions for mechanical, thermal, and other properties critical to the customer
- Work closely with development, commercial, and manufacturing teams to accelerate scale up and commercialization
- Benchmark competitive products to understand value vs competition
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to commercialize these products
- Stay up to date on the latest technical developments, patents and publications in the focus areas
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Education and Experience: - Masters or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or Polymer Science/Engineering (or related field)
- 3 - 5 years of industrial experience in thermoplastic development and processing.
- Experience with formulating and processing of thermoplastics with a strong background in polymer structure property relationships and polymer blends
- Expertise in Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE : SBS, SIS, SEBS, SEEPS, SEPS, SEPS-V) formulation, compounding and molding preferred
- Strong skills in the scientific method and use of design of experiments for data-driven research
- Working knowledge of analytical characterization techniques for rheological, mechanical and, thermal properties of polymers
- Working knowledge of polymer processes including compounding with twin screw extruders and injection molding.
- Works safely in the laboratory and plant settings
- Experience with product approval processes and qualifications at automotive OEMs is desirable
Additional Qualifications - Use of statistical software (StatEase, Minitab, SigmaPro or similar) for executing DOEs
- Strong competencies in using Microsoft Word for documentation and report writing
- Strong competencies in use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Project for research needs
- Greenbelt (or higher) in Six Sigma DMAIC desirable

- Excellent project management and organizational skills required to develop detailed project timelines with key milestones and deliverables
- The candidate must be collaborative and work effectively across cross-functional teams to drive projects from lab-to-commercial scale
