Job description

We are currently supporting one of our manufacturing clients in hiring a Project Engineer in India (Remote position).

Summary:

The

Project Engineer

is a member of the project team who will act as a technical leader throughout the sourcing project lifecycle. This individual will support the planning, initiation, monitoring of projects related to the development of relevant supply chains in India and adjacent countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The position will focus on initial qualification activities, assessment of supplier’s quality management systems and quality control mechanisms and related continuous improvement initiatives. The Project Engineer will collaborate with the following functional groups as appropriate to drive project progress: Supply Chain, Quality, Product Engineering, Procurement, and Finance. On an intermittent basis, She/he will visit local supplier sites to directly observe the manufacturing process, ensure quality standards and specifications are met (in-process quality verification), collect samples for third-party testing, inspect finished good inventory, and/or inspect shipments prior to taking possession. As required, the Position will coordinate the testing of manufactured parts in the Asia-Pacific Region leveraging a network of experts, consultants, and laboratory partners.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Serves as HSE leader for the organization, responsible for driving Mattr Incident & Injury Free (IIF) expectations, with focus on identifying and eliminating risk. Investigates HSE profile/performance of potential suppliers as part of supplier evaluation process. Communicates expectations, opportunities and/or recommendations for risk reduction, safer work practices, etc. to prospective partners as appropriate. Responsible for guiding project execution and product manufacturing in accordance with manufacturing procedures and required specifications. Support the of new materials, components and/or other fabricated parts/equipment and subsequent onboarding of new suppliers. Identify and coordinate material testing of manufactured parts and supplier parts at various facilities in the Asia Pacific region. Escalates challenging project issues and risks appropriately with senior management and relevant stakeholders after implementing conflict resolution measures. Actively communicates with business leadership on developments, escalations, and risk management. Systematically reports results to senior leadership. Coordinate with international resources (team members, contractors, consultants) to audit suppliers and conduct quality spot audits on regular intervals to ensure compliance and quality requirements are satisfied. Accountable for managing detailed performance scorecards for assigned programs and projects. Ensure project key performance indicators (KPIs) are actively managed, with deviations from target and unfavourable trends escalated with correct urgency. Maintain strict adherence to internal compliance standards during prospective supplier engagements. For assigned projects, work with relevant stakeholders to drive compliance with HSSE, labor, regulatory, insurance and other governance requirements. Lead and/or participate in relevant audits as appropriate.

Knowledge & Skills:

Superior engineering knowledge, sufficient understanding of project management, problem solving skills, and clear ability to communicate. Minimum 5 years of working experience. Ability to conduct quality assessment work and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder audience to deliver planned outcomes. Continuous improvement mindset which aims to challenge status quo. Bachelor's degree.
