Role-Manager – IPM DTx
Location: Hyderabad, Telangana.
Job Description:
Business Understanding
Dr. Reddy’s is foraying into DTx (Digital Therapeutics) space rapidly. To fulfill this new business need, we a need candidate with Electronics/ Computer Science Engineering background, to conduct IP search, IP due diligence, report preparation, patent drafting & prosecution activities, in the areas of wearable devices, medical devices, connected Apps, software, and other digital spaces.
Education & Experience:
M. Tech/ B.Tech in Electronics/ Computer Science with 8-10 years of experience in IP; Qualified Indian Patent Agent and/or LL.B (Optional, preferred)
Knowledge:
- Devise IP search strategies and conduct searches
- Identify blocking IP and help in building IP strategy
- Prepare various IP reports (FTO/ patentability, etc.)
- Prepare preliminary patent draft, filing & prosecution
- Track the technology/ IP space for CI input
- Support in securing other IPRs (Design/TM/Copyright)
- Support in Publication & CI activities
Support in Program selection/ Ideation
- Devise search strategies and conduct search for the identied opportunity/ idea
- Identify the blocking patents; study prosecution history (PH), legal status and provide appropriate solution
- Identify regulatory related blocks and provide appropriate solution
- Providing primary solutions and prepare patent landscape reports/ present the findings to stakeholders
IP Evaluations - FTO & Patentability
- Identify relevant & concerned patents, its legal status and prepare FTO reports
- Study PH and precedence cases to prepare mitigation strategies
- Prepare draft opinion(s)/ relevant reports
- Monitor prosecution/ litigation status of competitor’s patents landscape
- Propose appropriate measures to mitigate risks
- Build search queries and conduct searches in various patent & non-patent databases and prepare patentability reports
- Identify “White space” for the proposed program/ technology
- Report the “identified opportunities” in a structure manner and propose IP filing options
IP Creation
- Propose “new IP filing options” based on the state of art
- Identify data points and co-ordinate with inventors for data collection
- Review IDF’s & identify first cut invention hooks
- Prepare necessary patent compliance documentation while filing IP in various jurisdictions
Patent filing, Prosecution & Portfolio management
- Based on the “identified inventions” prepare preliminary patent drafts
- Coordinate with external counsels while filing/ prosecuting patent applications in various jurisdictions
- Study and prepare draft response for office actions for various jurisdictions
- Prepare necessary forms filing patent applications in India
- Coordinate in filing patent applications/ other prosecution related matters with Indian Patent Office
- Coordinate with finance team/ other stake holders for patent filing/ prosecution
- Maintain the patent dockets in CPI database and update periodically
- Track all annuity payments and provide timely instructions
Other IPR filings & CI activities
- Evaluation of other IP filing options, like Design, Trademark or Copyright
- Coordinate with legal/ other stakeholders for filing, prosecution & maintaining such IPRs
- Track all competitors/ relevant players activities and their IP filings, and timely report to stakeholders
- Update stakeholders on new developments in the area of interest for new business opportunities
- Monitor the technology landscape, its changes or new updates and report to stakeholders
Misc. IP activities
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders for necessary publication clearance
- Manage all publication database and support in clearance processes
- Track all costs and support finance team on processing invoices
