Responsibilities: - Develop software systems for control and automation of telescopes, domes, computation systems and other peripherals in the observatory.
- Integrate weather station and other environmental peripherals into observatory control for ensuring quality of observations and automating safety procedures.
- Utilise GNSS time servers for time synchronization of telescope observations.
- Set up efficient data storage, management and retrieval mechanisms locally and on cloud.
- Interface with camera and mount control software and protocols from various OEMs to perform centralised operation of all equipment.
- Work with telescope users for developing automation scripts for day-to-day scheduling and execution of telescope operations.
- Establish secure and reliable communication channels for remote operation and transmission of collected data.
- Monitor the observatory control infrastructure, make constant upgrades and troubleshoot anomalies.
Required Qualifications: - A degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Highly proficient in Python/C/C++ & Object Oriented Programming practices.
- Experience in building remote automation software for robotic systems, drones etc.
Preferred Qualities: - Experience working in operations for an astronomical observatory or similar scientific environment.
