Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Battery System Engineer Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
Scope of Role
As a HV Battery System Engineer, you will support the design, development, test & validation requirements for HV Battery Pack and BMS systems for both component and vehicle level integration. You also be capable to provide technical expertise in not only HV Battery but also the Electric Powertrain reporting into the Powertrain Electronics (ePT) domain within EEI, ER&D.
Area of Responsibility
- Responsible for HV Battery Pack/BMS component and functional delivery at various levels of integration within Electrified Powertrain.
- Responsible for HV Battery systems (development, validation, and delivery)
- Design reviews,
- Requirements definition/management,
- Generate DVPs and carry out supplier DVP reviews based on market requirements.
- Involvement in system FMEA's and management of supplier DFMEA
- System and component feature development and BMS SW implementation planning
- Support creation of the System Design Specifications according to customer and market requirements.
- Ability to both write and analyse, clear and concise ePT function description documents, state flow diagrams, swim lane diagrams and SW Requirements Specifications.
- Develop design concepts/proposals for cell to pack, cell to module to pack and complete pack level design integration for varying cell form factors and chemistries based on customer/internal requirements.
- Support technical discussions to deliver robust fault free designs through the application of Concurrent Engineering disciplines including DFMEA, DFA, DFM, Campaign Prevention Process, Robustness, etc.
- Manage compliance to ensure that all products meet the specification requirements and project targets through a documented DVP.
- Ensure all requirements are captured and monitored against test results.
- Agree and sign off the component/system requirements with different stakeholders for each domain.
. Involvement during vehicle system architecture and strategy discussions to meet vehicle requirements and ensure all functional safety requirements are captured. - Monitor/solve system issues and follow through on corrective actions.
- Assist in firefighting and ensure lessons learned are captured in component/system requirements.
- Assess system HV strategies, develop and propose improvements to vehicle and component level strategies, propose validation and gain buy-in from stakeholders.
- Knowledge / Experience
- Strong organisational skills with a good track record of delivering projects on time. It is core to the success of our business that a candidate is motivated to succeed, proactive and accountable and is unafraid to make decisions based on the facts available.
- Knowledge of HV Battery design at module and pack, state of the art technologies, design solutions and benchmarking
- Working experience with Standards like ECE R100, ISO 26262, ISO 16949 and GBT etc. And Charging standards to support future system engineering capabilities (ISO15118, J1772, IEC 61851, CHAdeMO etc.)
- Knowledge of ePowertrain and BMS features, feature development, documentation, and analysis.
- Documentation of DFMEA, DVP, Timing Plans, Minutes and Actions of Meetings.
- Experience of Automotive development processes.
- Previous experience of OEM or tier one automotive systems.
- Experience using DOORS Systems or any other platform to manage system/components requirements.
- Delivery with FDD methodology - functional flow, physical flow, logic flow
- Strong track record of delivering significant high value business and delivering to very tight timescales.
- Driven to delivering high quality projects, on time and budget, beyond customer expectations.
- Essential
- Degree in Electronics/Electrical, Mechatronics, Software or Automotive Engineering.
- Experience of HV Battery, BMS and system development and the related New Product Introduction processes
- Core knowledge of BMS features, functions, and its interfaces
Expertise in product design, develop & DV at cell, module and battery pack systems. - . Working experience with Standards as above . Experience with EE/Powertrain Architecture and the thermal management (component/system). . Understanding of Vehicle system elements (VCU, OBD and PDU etc.)
- Able to anticipate, translate and develop customer requirements into tangible feature developments.
- Expertise in automotive toolchains including Diagnostic Tools, Vector Tools, CANalyzer and CANoe etc.
- Expertise in communication protocols such as CAN/LIN/Flexray etc.
- Able to actively participate in system FMEAs and related validation activities.
- Ability to build relationships and influence customers.
