TIH Foundation for IoT & IoE, IIT Bombay:
TIH-IoT has been set up at IIT Bombay under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM ICPS), being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. TIH-IoT focuses on creating a self-sustaining innovation continuum by fostering interdisciplinary, collaborative, and translational research for technology & amp; product development, building highly knowledgeable human resources, and creating a vibrant start-up ecosystem in the technology vertical of IoT. TIH-IoT offers funding support, technical mentoring, and research services in collaboration with academic, industry experts, and institutions primarily to nurture proofs of-concept from research laboratories for commercialization by increasing their Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs).
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for executing business operations plans. These include, but are not limited to, budgeted program numbers and associated fund deployment. Hub works on a fast-paced delivery model and efficiency of business operations is key.
• To conceive and execute Call-for-Proposal (CFP) for Entrepreneurship Development, Technology Development and Skill Development.
• Work closely with the CTO on the effectiveness of each step from CFP to issuing the sanction letters. Additionally, working together to identify problem statements that lead to product development and commercialization.
• Monitoring of investments in startups.
• Manage teams in Business Operations, Finance, Administration, HR and smoothen the interplay among them.
• Be a part of the senior management team and participate in long term planning of the hub.
• Observe compliance in decision making and develop the same culture in the team.
• Actively look for commercialization opportunities for technologies and develop proposals for the same in consultation with CTO, CEO, Legal and Finance experts.
• Create a culture of high performance within the team.
• Interact with IITB departments for project coordination, expediting and resolving project related activities.
• Excellent people management skills. Should be able to inspire the team to aim and achieve higher goals.
• Develop efficient processes in the functions under COO's responsibility using automation tools.
• Benchmark OKRs related to Business Operations against the very best in the Industry.
Education:
• B.Tech/B.E. in any branch of engineering and MBA/ PGDM.
Experience:
The candidate is expected to have minimum 13 years of experience in the engineering/technology sector. Candidates with profiles that satisfy one or more of the following will be preferred:
• Experience in founding and/ or leading successful non-software start-ups.
• Experience of at least one success story in leading a company from its early days of establishment to the next level in the manufacturing sector.
• 3+ years of continuous leadership in a single company enabling generating revenue and taking it to the next level in the manufacturing sector.
• Having worked in a startup ecosystem will be an added advantage.
Other terms:
• The position is contractual, full time in nature and subject to periodic performance reviews.
