We are seeking a skilled back-end developer to join our IBM development team. As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software products, working with a variety of technologies and programming languages.

Your Role and Responsibilities
The core WCA4Z team is looking for developers who show the initiative and thrive at tackling problems. The AI landscape as a whole is rapid paced and comes with ever developing requirements, which you as a developer would be required to help design and engineer solutions that innovate within that environment. This will include understanding AI principals with data manipulation and transformation, prompt engineering, and model validations as we look to build up high quality solutions. You will be applying the software engineering rigour, ensuring proper processes and best practises are followed accordingly.

Your main duties will include designing and implementing new features, optimising and maintaining existing code, and ensuring the software meets high-quality standards through testing and debugging. You will also work closely with other developers, designers, and product managers to ensure the software meets user needs.

You will work on state-of-the-art technology that leverages the IBM Generative AI capability to help our customer modernize their current application by assisting them to analyze, Refactor, Transform, and validate the modified application. IBM watsonx code assistant for Z backend developers are responsible for the transform and translate phase, parsing and transforming the input data to the LLM.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Strong Java programming skills
• An aptitude for low-level programming
• Understanding of AI principles around generative AI an asset
• Basic compiler skills, especially familiarity with program analysis: static analysis information, abstract syntax trees, control flow graphs, and variable dependency analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to architect solutions across multiple components (breadth) in additional to hands-on implementation of efficient solutions to hard problems (depth).
• Experience with Agile development methodology.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• z/OS, COBOL skills an asset
