We are looking for an operations director at Mace India (part of Mace Consult Asia Pacific Hub), who will work with the country manager in overseeing and managing our construction projects across India.
This position requires a seasoned construction project management professional with a proven track record in leading and delivering successful projects across India in diverse sectors- viz-commercial, mixed -use, hospitality, and industrial (desirable). You will lead a portfolio of projects and a team of experienced project managers. You will be the escalation point for clients for all their project related aspirations and expectations from Mace. You will be providing guidance and expertise to the team to ensure projects are executed with the highest standards of quality, safety and performance.
You'll be responsible for:
Project Oversight
This role is an integral part of the senior leadership team in India, collaborating closely with the country manager to support the specific project teams in the delivery of our large programs of work, driving service excellence and consistency across the business.
Provide leadership and direction to project managers and teams, ensuring adherence and consistency of mace standards, policy, processes, and procedures.
Accountable along with the country director for successful delivery of Mace scope within the business.
Accountable for delivery of financial and operating targets of projects.
Responsible for driving best practises across the portfolio of projects working closely with our Centre of Excellence (CoE) teams across the 4 service lines.
Project Monitoring
Drive robust project tracking and reporting mechanisms and keep stakeholders informed of the project progress and potential risks.
Proactively engage with the project directors to identify and mitigate project challenges.
External Stakeholder Relationships
Engage proactively and robustly with client stakeholders, understand their requirements, expectations and objectives and ensure Mace teams align with these.
Be the right brand ambassador for Mace by being the key point of contact for project-related matters. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, supply chain and relevant authorities.
Team Management
In coordination with recruitments team, ensure key members are deployed on time and within budget, to deliver the business ambition through robust resource planning.
Facilitate skill development, performance evaluations, and career growth for team members.
Compliance and Standards
Ensure that all projects adhere to industry standards, local regulations, and safety protocols.
Promote and champion the highest standards and adherence to quality, Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Develop and implement best practices in project management to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
Growth and Business Development
You'll also have:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, a master's degree is a plus.
Complexity and are excited about solving new problems for our clients and teams.
Excellent at inspiring project teams, driving them to put their best foot forward in a challenging environment.
Experience leading people of varying backgrounds in the past and are an invested leader.
Comprehensive expertise and knowledge of the construction industry is a must.
More than 25 years' experience in construction project management, with a minimum of last 10 years in leadership roles.
Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, modern methods of construction, local regulations, and industry standards.
Ability to effectively present and communicate with stakeholders at all levels within Mace and client organisations.
Excellent grip on contractual and commercial aspects of projects in India.
An advanced negotiator with influencing and engagement capabilities, who can persuade as well as guide. Collaborate with others to reach a desired course of action and/or a consensus.
Technical qualifications such as PMP or other relevant certifications.
