Job description

Key Responsibilities • Idea and concept development. • Specifying requirements, generating specifications. • Hands-on mechanical design to comply with requirement and documenting the design. • Conducting DFMEA to evaluate reliability and safety of the mechanical design. • Developing and executing tests plans to verify and qualify the mechanical design. • Working with internal and contract manufacturing suppliers at varying scale to ensure cost-effectiveness and design for manufacturing (DFM). • Manufacturing, assembly and maintenance of R&D prototypes as necessary. • Transferring projects from development to production - producing full DMR and DHF documentation for transfer to test/manufacturing. • Trouble-shooting of mechanical problems with cross functional teams as necessary. • Identify areas of improvement in products quality and propose solutions • Ensure that product complaints and other quality events are investigated (including the root cause analysis) in a timely fashion, and create plans for remediation. • Design guidance, planning and executing design reviews including documentation for team members. • Supporting the project manager in planning the daily project activities • Participate in internal/external quality audits and Intellectual Property (IP) assessments.

Minimum Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering. • 10+ years of mechanical design work within medical or small consumer electronic devices. • Experience with SolidWorks CAD tools. • Experience in integration of Mechanical and Electronic design (PCB, connectors, batteries, radios etc.) • Experience in robust design (Tolerance, DFMEA), DFM, Design for usability, reliability. • Experience in designing and manufacturing for pre-clinical prototype qualification and volume manufacturing. • Experience in manufacturing tools design and validation. • Experience in manufacturing technologies involving welding, brazing and hermitic sealing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Design experience in design Class III implantable medical device. • Knowledge of medical device standards such as IEC-60601, ISO 14971, ISO 13485, MDR. • Exposure to the specification of biocompatibility testing methods and test houses. • Knowledge of engineering statistical tools/methods.
