Category Buyer - Lubricants, Chemicals & Pain
Location: Mumbai, IN
Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Buyer for our team responsible for sourcing lubricants, chemicals and paints for our global fleet. Based in Mumbai you will be part of a close-knit team operating out of Copenhagen, Singapore, Hamburg and Mumbai. You are responsible for procurement, optimisation, inventory and budget control, and effective supply of products to your allotted part of our Global fleet of vessels. The role will require a strong focus on end-user needs and a good understanding of supply chain logistics. You will have a broad contact base with internal and external stakeholders from across the Globe, so you will have plenty of opportunity to maintain your excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
As a Category Buyer, you are responsible for.
Key tasks
- Receiving enquiries and order requests in various procurement systems or by phone, email, etc., ensuring that all necessary information is collected and acknowledging the order from the vessel. Optimizing the order where appropriate and seeking technical advice where needed.
- Liaising with the vessel, the vessel agents, and appointed suppliers to ensure a smooth supply.
- Validate and approve invoices to ensure timely payment of suppliers.
- Actively identify uneconomical supply situations and pro-actively recommend solutions to ensure that we spend the vessel budget most economically.
- Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to build own knowledge and awareness of the supplier market and customer expectations.
- Take part in the team after-office-hours duty phone attendance on a rotational basis.
- Lead projects designed to optimise performance and/or improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- 4 to 5 years of experience in procurement and supply chain.
- Educated to Bachelor or Master degree level within a relevant field.
- Knowledge of the Lubricants/Chemical industry is an advantage.
- Experience from the shipping industry is an advantage.
