OVERVIEW: Skillsoft is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Cloud Solutions Architect who is focused on improving the reliability and availability of Skillsoft's products, platforms, and technology solutions in a Cloud environment to maximize customer satisfaction. The Senior Cloud Solutions Architect designs solutions to ensure proactive quality to assure high reliability of systems. The Senior Cloud Solution Architect is also responsible to maintain high standards of operational excellence while being fiscally responsible to manage costs and drive efficiencies.
OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS:
- Responsible for the availability, quality, scalability, and resilience of web applications.
- Analyze, design, and tune systems to operate at maximum efficiency to meet demand.
- Research and implement solutions using new technologies and tools.
- Investigate and solve the contributing causes to incidents and impacts to Service Level Objectives.
- Conduct post incident technical root cause analysis to discover and design remediation actions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to exploit platform technologies through continua processes of tuning and refining setting to optimize performance and drive efficiency.
- Assist with disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
- Write and maintain production operations documentation.
- Develop automation solutions and/or procure solutions in optimizing manual operational work.
- Build and maintain tools, robust solutions and processes for production monitoring, observability, performance testing, and autoscaling solutions to ensure high quality-of-service.
- Optimize application monitoring tools, including fine tuning actionable alerts, process improvements and enhancements.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least five years supporting systems and SaaS applications in a cloud environment
- Expert understanding of Microservices Architecture
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, ECR)
- Familiarity with system administration automation tools, scripting languages and desired state configuration tools. (Ansible, Postgres SQL, YAML, Harness)
- Familiarity with the concepts, benefits, and challenges of data related services such as Kafka, Cassandra, Elastic Search, Redis, EFS, EBS, and RabbitMQ
- Familiarity with editing tools and source control integration. (JBoss, Dev Studio, Git, Visual Studio Code, Bash, Python, Nodejs)
- Experience in the support of enterprise hosted systems strongly desired. (EC2, S3)
- Experience with troubleshooting tools. (New Relic, Splunk, WireShark)
- Advanced understanding of operational challenges in a 7x24 environment
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; and ability to perform under significant pressure
- Professional manner with strong interpersonal skills; a team player and a relationship builder
- Self-directed work habits, applied with creativity, resourcefulness, and a sense of personal responsibility
- Post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience supporting 7x24 environments for Global 1000 customers is a strong asset.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and the adoption of DevOps culture
- Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools.
