The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is an international, not-for-profit research and development (R&D) organization that develops and delivers new treatments for neglected diseases affecting millions of the world’s poorest people.
Together with more than 200 public research and industry allies worldwide, we use the power of partnership, innovation, open science, and advocacy to find solutions to a great injustice: the lack of medicines for life-threatening diseases that disproportionately impact poor and marginalized people. Driven by collaboration, not competition, and by patients’ needs, not profits, we promote equitable access, foster inclusive and sustainable solutions, and advocate for a more effective global biomedical R&D system that meets the needs of neglected patients.
13 new treatments for people with Sleeping Sickness, Visceral Leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, HIV, Hepatitis C, and Malaria that have saved millions of lives. We aim to deliver a total of 25 new treatments by 2028– addressing R&D gaps for neglected tropical diseases and viral infections, including new pandemic-prone diseases (such as COVID-19) and climate-sensitive diseases (such as dengue) with a focus on the needs of patients in low- and middle-income countries.

The DNDi Strategy and Operations Department manages the DNDi corporate infrastructure globally (Finance; Human Resources; Information Systems and Technology; Legal Affairs; Alliance Management, Business Development, Procurement, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Facilities) across its 9 locations. The Department plays a central role in DNDi’s compliance and performance and is the custodian of its Strategic Plan, its IST strategy, People Strategy, Diversity Equity and Inclusion Strategy, and Code of Conduct.
Purpose of the position
This role constitutes a key pillar of DNDi as it contributes to the design and definition of the overall organization’s strategy on a periodic basis, through the sound monitoring of its execution, and of the impact pursued by the organization on the neglected patients, and on the research and public health systems. In parallel, this role fosters a gradually increasing level of impact, performance and efficiency across the entire organization through performance management and continuous improvement.
Specific job responsibilities
Lead DNDi’s M&E program including Impact assessment, in consistency with the definition, execution and monitoring of DNDi Strategy
- Lead the design evolutions and implementation of the Impact and M&E framework at the Global DNDi level, and at the disease and project-level
- Integrate and ensure consistency, synergy, and coordination of the Strategic performance monitoring with the M&E framework and the reporting to DNDi’s stakeholders
- Provide strategic advice and guidance on how to translate evidence generated into the overall DNDi M&E framework
- Design, develop and deploy tools, protocols and procedures aligned with continuous improvement best practices for data collection for Strategy and performance monitoring, and for M&E, and esp. for impact assessment
- Define the appropriate organization and governance, incl. roles and responsibilities all along the chain from data collection to impact evaluation and reporting at project, program and global/strategic level at DNDi
- Coordinate an international network of M&E focal points, ensure continuous improvement at all levels of the organization through technical support, training and coaching
- Develop data collection and analysis strategies at the project/program level to ensure timeliness, accuracy and rigor in providing and reporting of high-quality data
- Work with all external partners (e.g., governments, academic institutions, private companies) to coordinate data gathering, analysis and reporting for collaborative projects
- Coordinate with the External Relations team relative to Impact and M&E requirements as part of funding proposals, and to ensure efficient and appropriate reporting of indicators and metrics to funders
- Contribute to key scientific publications and conference presentations as appropriate.
- Contribute to fostering sustainable capabilities for M&E in project countries and locations where DNDi operates.
Contribute to DNDi’s strategic objectives setting and lead the monitoring of its execution
- Refine, maintain, and implement a Strategy and performance monitoring framework through setting up indicators and dashboards integrated within the M&E dashboard, and support the Strategic Plan execution and remediation plan definition, in collaboration with the Global Executive Team
- Ensure consistency and efficiency across these different frameworks in collaboration with DNDi’s framework owners and operationalize them with the support of the IST team
- Collaborate with relevant DNDi teams for efficient integration of Strategic performance metrics into DNDi’s internal and external reporting

Reporting line
- This role reports to the Strategy and Operations Director
Interactions
- Works with all teams and departments across DNDi functions and offices. The role will animate a multi-disciplinary group of experts, from all diseases and in all relevant geographies to deliver a comprehensive and consistent Impact and M&E framework
- This role has frequent interaction with DNDi staff and some external stakeholders, especially to gather best practices, align on regulatory requirements, exchange on processes and tools. This role represents DNDi for a program/service area and develop and maintain relationship with current and future partner (e.g., donors)

Experience
- At least 10 years experience, in a multi-cultural, pluri-disciplinary and complex work environment, of which 5 years are specifically in a M&E senior role
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure
- Experience of working in public and private sector is highly desirable
- Proven track record in Strategy development, Monitoring and Evaluation framework design and implementation and Project and portfolio management
Education
- Advanced post graduate degree or graduate degree with equivalent in experience to reach Master level
- Training in M&E, performance management and impact assessment
Other requirements
- Full fluency in English
- Proficiency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swahili, Hindi...) highly desirable
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite
