Job Summary The Project Head will be responsible for managing the various projects taken up periodically comprising the Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Civil engineering functions as applicable from time to time at VSMIPL and will also be developmental in setting up a global engineering department at VSMIPL that would be involved in various projects that come across the organization's other sites from time to time. The position will also be responsible for leading the Reliability improvements across the site and will have to ensure the site remains above the global reliability standards at all times. Where necessary, he will need to come up with innovative ideas for improving the site situation as well as the overall plant performance and lead the effort in ensuring completion of all approved projects within the approved boundaries. He will also work on developing engineering standards and lay out suitable engineering systems to ensure world class performance in close coordination with the Site Director. Reporting directly to the Site Director, we will also have to ensure a systematic reporting process.
Responsibilities Role Specific Responsibilities: Reliability Project Planning - Primary responsibility will be planning the job to effectively initiate and complete the new and Reliability Projects.
- To undertake project planning, budget approval, developing scope of work, managing project implementation qualities/standards, and ensuring adequate safety measures.
- To adequately assess needs vs. available resources and determine deployment of resources from in-house vs. outside contractors.
- To undertake discussions and planning with all the relevant personnel regarding job expectations, the project scope, objectives, completion date, plant impact, cost, and other items and properly delegate work assignments with priorities and deadlines.
- To work out priorities and deadlines for all the jobs and work orders involved in the Project and negotiate price and delivery dates for purchases and supply of items and services.
- To interact with other departments like electrical, utilities, for deliveries of items/resources to maintain the project deadlines.
- To discuss with the personnel division for the deployment of manpower (in-house) with respect to the management of the Project. Process Reliability improvements
- Development of equipment specifications and doing techno-commercial comparisons of offers received from different vendors
- Discussions with vendors to identify new technologies
- Maintain and update CWO status every week and to keep the Site Director updated on the implementation as well as the costs involved
- Develop and issue purchase orders/work orders to vendors/contractors and ensure that work is done as per the defined specifications
- Troubleshooting the plant issues to ensure elimination of problems and continuity of plant performance Engineering Activities
- Managing the overall engineering function in the organization which will include civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering and instrumentation engineering.

Work Standard – Project Planning - Project to be completed in a timely and efficient manner undertaking adequate Safety Measures;
- Safety Measures to ensure low incidence occurring and minimizing severity of accident,
- Project completion targets in terms of Resources, time, quality, and legal requirements to be matched.
- Deployment of resources to ensure reduction in idle time and optimization of available resources.
- Completion of Project within the approved Budget planning.
Reporting - Regular reporting to Site Director on various activities / improvements undertaken on the site
- Update in case of expected cost over runs / under utilization
- Preparation and completion of CWOs
- Project reports in form of Gantt Charts, Excel sheets etc.
Compliance - Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
- Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
- Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times
Problem Solving And Innovation - Active participation in continuous improvement activities
- Participates in problem-solving
- Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business
- Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members

Qualifications/Desired Skills Education and Qualifications: - Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Not required but desirable - Master Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineer with minimum 15 years of experience in Chemical industries with same profile.
- ISO 9000 awareness
- MUST be self-starter and come up with various improvement projects where required.
Experience - Working experience of at least 10 to 15 years in Specialty Chemical Industry / Engineering firms handling various chemical industry projects – batch chemical processing a must.
- Handled Project of 5 million to 30 million USD
- Through knowledge on computer operating skills like MS office, MS projects and standard engineering modeling software
- Experienced in basic and detailed engineering calculations
- Strong English skills with the capability of technical discussions with vendors, consultants, US engineering, etc.
- Strong EHS orientation and knowledge of world class process safety requirements for design and construction
- Experience in identifying and working with Contracting/Engineering consultancy firms
- Understanding of local design codes and standards and experience developing and executing against established internal engineering policies and procedures
- Not required, but desirable –
- Legal requirements as per Indian Laws
- Experience in training and developing subordinates
- Working knowledge in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil engineering
- Knowledge of ACAD
- Spatial intelligence for developing plant layouts
