Job description

Consilium Recruit are proudly supporting a leading global engineering service provider who are working in partnership with some of the world’s most influential names in the Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, Tech, Energy, Healthcare, Medical Devices, Rail and Semi-Conductor industries.


We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team in support of Aerospace R & D projects on a long term contract basis with a hybrid working pattern.




The Role
 

Ownership of mechanical design and analysis of assigned components.

Collaborate with support functions as required (stress, heat transfer, lifing, materials, systems engineering, programs, product definition, test & validation).

Ensure assigned components meet, cost and weight, DfX (design for excellence) and all other technical requirements.

Familiarity with requirements of REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals).

Coordinate with Product Definition to ensure all geometry, tolerances, specifications, drawing notes, etc. meet customer standards and system requirements (i.e. assembly stack-ups).

Generate change in design documents to change drawings and parts lists as required.

Generate and deliver technical/program presentations to internal and external customers as required (systems tech review, design review and internal analysis review).

Write Design Study Summaries (Design Definition Record), Technical Memorandums, Coordination Memos, and Certification Reports as required to document design engineering activity on assigned components.

Interface with global engineering organisations and other internal design organisations as required to support design activity on assigned components.  


The Person


The Mechanical Design Engineer will be able to work on a hybrid arrangement travelling to site in Somerset initially and must be an experienced Design Engineer within aerospace or airborne vehicle component manufacture. The successful person will also be subject to UK security clearance checks.

Experience Required for the Mechanical Design Engineer:

Educated to Degree level in a relevant field or equivalent experience

Proficient in the use of Siemens Unigraphics (NX)

Familiarity with structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

Knowledge of Material science with a familiarity covering metallics to include (aluminium, titanium, steel, copper, magnesium alloys), forgings, castings, sheet metal, welded/brazed fabrication, additive manufacturing.

Experience of product change and process associated is highly advantageous

Exposure to gated processes
