Job Overview:

The Senior Piping & Layout Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Piping & Layout discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Piping & Layout discipline. The Senior Piping & Layout Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Piping & Layout Engineer impacts a range of customers, operational, project, or service activities with the Piping & Layout team and other related teams and ensures they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive piping and layout designs that comply with industry standards and client requirements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate piping systems into the overall project design
  • Utilize advanced software tools to create piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, and material take-offs
  • Conduct thorough feasibility studies to optimize piping and layout designs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and drafters
  • Collaborate with project managers and other engineering teams to ensure seamless coordination of piping and layout activities
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings and provide expert input on project deliverables and schedules
  • Monitor and review project progress, identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing timely solutions
  • Conduct comprehensive quality checks on piping and layout designs, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and specifications
  • Perform thorough calculations and simulations to validate the integrity and functionality of piping systems
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement in design processes and implementation

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or a related field. Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in piping design and layout within the EPCI industry
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, and ISO, with demonstrated experience in their successful application
  • Proficiency in utilizing industry-leading design software, such as AutoCAD, PDMS, and Caesar II
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
