NKT is currently expanding our R&D HVAC Accessories team , and we are offering a unique opportunity.
Design and Develop for the future – you will be our key to growth. We are searching for a colleague with some years of
experience design work in the field of high voltage power products . Practical experience in either
mechanical modelling or simulations (electrical field, mechanical ) and the interpretation of the results in this area is mandatory.
Design and Develop for the future Cable Accessories for Medium and High Voltage AC and DC cable systems needed for the green transformation of the energy system is our specialty.
You will be joining a tech-community with extensive knowledge and experience in material, design, simulation, and testing of cable terminations and joints. You will be part of the Engineering team located in Chennai , India together with other Design Engineers.
You will be an important contributor to the development and adaptation of our product portfolio of cable accessories. Your daily tasks will also include..
- Participate in product development projects of high voltage power cable accessories and utilize 3D CAD design software (such as Solid works, Creo…) to deliver new designs based on innovative concepts and ideas Implement comprehensive knowledge and experience in high voltage power products and applications to contribute in development projects.
- Good understanding of electrical and mechanical simulation results based on Multiphysics software COMSOL. Ability to perform electrical / mechanical simulations by COMSOL is a merit.
- Good understanding and knowledge on at least one materials used in high volt-age cable accessories, for example, conductive materials, insulation materials and semi-conductive materials.
- Good understanding of various manufacturing processes ( Casting, Machining, Injection moulding ) and utilize to reduce the cost of existing and newly developed components
- Collaborate close contact with other specialists within NKT.

Additionally, your CV includes: - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering background / cable accessories design experience
- 6+ years of professional experience within HV design .
- Understand design tasks related to development of high voltage power products or similar field
- Having very good design experience in designing of medium and high voltage electric products for example; Transformers, Power cable accessories, Bushings, Surge arrestor, Insulators, GIS
- Very good experience in Solidworks software for 3D Modelling and 2D Drawings of High or Medium voltage electrical products
- Experience in evaluating simulation results and basic understanding of electrical field simulations
- Knowledge or working experience in high voltage test lab or mechanical test lab
- Good experience in design for manufacturing, tolerance stackup analysis and DFMEA
- Basic knowledge of PLM system - Windchill
- MS-Office
You will be located in
Chennai, India and report to the manager for Installation. Because of the global set-up you will be travelling to other sites occasionally, estimated 10-20 days per year, domestic and international.
