Job Title

Senior Roaming Operations Engineer (L2)

Job Purpose

This section should summarise the purpose of the role, its' level of business responsibility and strategic input to the business

Roaming Operations Senior Engineer responsible for roaming operational tasks, implementation and network auditing, change management, SLA management, L2 support, advanced troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, VIP complaints handling, liaising other operations streams.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Manage international roaming operations team and provide 3rd line support for all Network related issues
  • Identify and act upon opportunities for continuous improvement to reduce operational risks, optimise efficiency and improve performance
  • Liaise with engineering for roaming capacity planning, services implementation/delivery plan, and relevant technical standards
  • Develop and enforce change control procedures
  • Support escalation of international roaming, A2P SMS, Data and international voice issues
  • Track performance against the strategic initiatives and business plan
  • Handle communications with Sponsored Roaming Partner and international interconnects for SMS, Data, and Voice
  • Develop and manage Roaming and International Carrier products to meet Business plan and revenue targets
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify trends, set roaming operations objectives, and review SLA with carriers.
  • Drive operational performance of the vendors for which International Roaming is responsible for by reviewing of KPIs in operational review meetings.
  • Provide team coaching, build knowledge, and manage daily operation activities to high efficiency and best performing team
  • Assist in ad-hoc queries or work that may arise relating to international roaming partners.
  • Collaborate with Roaming Partners and internal stakeholders to identify trends and drive fixes for inbound / outbound live roaming incidents within the agreed service SLA

  • Advanced knowledge for Roaming SS7, Diameter, GTP, SIP, and core network

  • Advanced knowledge for roaming services (2G, 3G, LTE, VoLTE)

  • Advanced knowledge for GSMA standard IREG test cases

  • Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Excellent understanding of troubleshooting methodology

  • Understanding of the business requirements of steering of roaming and wholesale billing

  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely

  • Excellent analytical, strong communication skills, and problem solving

  • Able to work within and cross teams
