1. POSITION: Fellow – Urban Economics, Centre for Social and Economic Progress, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi
2. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES: CSEP is seeking self-motivated research professionals with a passion for research that addresses the deep-rooted challenges facing India. The Research Fellows should be well-trained in their area of expertise, have an extensive publications record, and have excellent verbal communication skills. They should be aware of both global and national developments in their area of work and have a good network of fellow researchers with whom they can partner. If selected the candidate would be expected to author/coauthor unbiased studies using robust methods, work with colleagues in India and globally, present their work and participate actively in our seminars on a regular basis. The candidate will also be expected to interact independently with policymakers, domain experts, academia, funders and civil society among others. Expected to author evidence-based policy relevant robust studies. CSEP , situated in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi is a multidisciplinary think tank with expertise in diverse areas including International Relations, Health, Energy, Economics and Public Policy. Its research faculty includes policymaking, academic, industry and consulting professionals. The research faculty also includes Distinguished Fellows who are renowned policymakers. The Centre prides itself in its approach of independent, credible, unbiased, and robust research. The research staff publish widely in both global and national journals and engage frequently with policymakers and thought leaders. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: Qualification and Experience: (1) Ph.D. in Economics from a top Indian/foreign university (2) Minimum seven years’ work experience (3) Established publication record Essential Skills and Competencies: (1) Knowledge of research methods; (2) Good verbal communication; (3) Good writing skills; (4) Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; (5) Expertise on government finances, especially municipal finances; (6) Ability to work on and lead studies across related fields; (7) Very strong problem solver; (8) Ability and willingness to learn new skills/ areas of work. 4. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive.
