Job description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Design & Development:

a. Capacity to bring in technological advancements in the area of drive train  to meet performance, reliability, quality and cost objectives of the program
b. Sizing of powertrain elements such as  transmission, axle, Prop shafts  brake andtyre/rims  to deliver vehicle level performance and reliability   
c. Specialized knowledge in the domain of Powertrain design for delivery of high performance, cost effective components  
d. Proactive role in optimizing performance, reliability and cost targets  through systematic reviews  
e. Ensuring  100% compliance to standards while releasing drawings and SOR
f. Ensuring  right competency to a task by optimal utilization of internal and external resource
g. Continuously drive innovation both at product level and within the product development process.

Support to other functions:

a. Collaboratively  working with other system and functional teams to realize quality, cost and time objectives of the program
b. Timely release of engineering documents like drawing, RFQ, and  identifying critical areas in manufacture and assembly
c. Timely resolution of technical issues related to driveline design faced during development such as source development, manufacturing and assembly without diluting technical requirements of product and quality

Process Adherence :

a. Deploy MPDS and MQS all through the product development lifecycle 
b. Release of BOM and SOR for all bought out items and engineering support for sourcing and quality teams including PCR management
c. Periodic review with the CFT team for timely resolution of concerns
e\d. Documentation of learning, technical reports, and failure analysis

Core Competencies : 

• Proven track record in having executed product development programs with specialization in the area of driveline Specially Transmission and axles of off road vehicles
• Conversant with latest technological developments, innovations in the area of structures design and having demonstrated his capability in implementation
• Experience in optimizing system parameters such as performance, packaging, aesthetic appeal and cost to development of a world class product 
• Knowledge in world class product development process including DFMEA, PFMEA, Failure analysis, concern resolution and management and reliability growth
• Self Motivated team player to attain higher levels of performance and in building the competency. 

Preferred Industries

Education Qualification

BE/ B.Tech from Tier-I Engg college/ university (RECs, NITs, IITs, BITs & Equivalents)

General Experience

Minimum experience of 6+ years is required in related domain

Experience in the field of driveline component seelction, Design & integration from Construction Equipment, Tractors, heavy Commercial Vehicles (Trucks)

Critical Experience

• Specialized knowledge in the area of driveline component selection and driveline layout inlcuding transmission, Axles, Prop Shafts, Tyres and Rims along with brake systems
• Analytical skills in the area of mechanism design, kinematic studies for linkages etc
• Capable of detailing manufacturing and quality requirements
• Hands on experience in carrying  out the following tasks:                                         
- Prediction of loads          
- Strength calculation                                                                            
- Drawing review and approval, GD&T & tolerance stack up per ASTM Y14.5
• Skills to prepare customer requirement and convert them into technical specification
• Skills to prepare technical requirement of system to meet application requirement
• Ability to come up with solution based on benchmark study
• Hands on experience in the following areas(analytical tools):                               
- transmisison and axle technologies and latest trends            
• Capability for root cause analysis and solution of field and validation failures 
• Capacity to prepare DFMEA, review PFMEA, DTC, optimization of process parameters, manufacturing technology to ensure that the design objectives are fully met in providing first time right solution including permanent fixing of system concern during the development phase
