Job Purpose
The vision of the department clearly states that it endeavors 'to have the most comprehensive, easy-to-use, and competitive catalogue of stores, spares and services in the maritime domain, embarking its presence as the most preferred supplier for all the shipping companies for any/all of their requirements.'
With this vision, the job purpose of the Sourcing Specialist includes searching for Manufacturers / Distributors / Wholesalers for the items in IMPA (International Maritime Purchasing Association) catalogue, in various ports with the objective of procuring standard store/industrial items at the most competitive (least) cost.
Key Result Areas - Negotiate contracts with suppliers, including collecting and organizing relevant data in advance.
- Prepare proposals and counter proposals for purchase and agreements.
- Formulate policies to improve the company's economic position.
- Develop working relationships with new suppliers by conducting preliminary research, meeting representatives, verifying product availability, and finalizing terms of sale.
- Complete the buying duties as necessary (including but not limited to contacting suppliers, creating purchase orders, and issuing payment).
- Prepare and maintain detailed records of all purchases, including information about costs, items ordered, fulfilment accuracy, and resolution of issues.
- Create purchase orders according to suppliers' requirements, and distribute detailed copies to numerous departments, such as accounting, accounts payable, and warehouse inventory.
- Source the most frequently ordered consumable products. Thereafter, find respective suppliers pan India and list them online.
- Find multiple vendors of different brands for each product.
- Compile the collected data (images, product description, IMPA code etc) and segregate it as per IMPA Chapters.
- Liaise with the IT team to ensure smooth uploading of data.
- Check for the lowest available price on the Web (on different and multiple platforms) for Vendors who are unable to provide images and pricing.
- Follow up with Operations team of all locations on a daily basis to find out any ongoing enquiries for Consumable products. Add those products in the database and find the suppliers / prices on priority basis.
- Familiarize with IMPA (International Marine Purchasing Association) catalogue, and the various terminologies associated with the items of our concern.
- Collate all information including transportation charges (if any) till the warehouse and mention the same in the Excel sheet. Efficiently manage the vendor database and keep it updated for reference at all times.
- Upgrade the knowledge base on various categories, especially Hand tool, Power tool, Electrical and Deck.
Educational And Experience Prerequisites - Engineering graduate (Civil and Electrical preferred, not to consider Computer Science or IT). (MBA will be an added advantage).
- Good knowledge of technical items in Ship stores.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Excel including Vlookup & Hlookup.
- Good product category knowledge including HSN.
- Knowledge of creating product titles and attributes.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Experience in dealing with Consumables being mandatory.
- Experience in the Industrial e-commerce segment will be preferred...
