Introduction

The Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research (C-DEP) is an independent think tank that formulates positions on policies for Technology and Trade.

The organization’s main focus is on promoting aspects of the Indian Technology Economy and Trade and to facilitate the creation of a larger e-commerce, manufacturing and services ecosystem, based on non-discriminatory policies.

C-DEP’s objective is to bring together the finest brains in Academia and Industry to formulate draft policies on Digital and Technology Economy that will help economic growth and prosperity of India. It collaborates with thought leaders from across the world, for the purpose of supporting and sensitizing the Government of India in its various initiatives to make India a global digital industry hub.

This role is for working with the government in supporting their cross-border trade related international issues in Digital.

Responsibilities & Scope Work with senior government functionaries to aid them in international negotiations on Digital Trade

Undertake policy initiatives to ensure that domestic industry receives Trade Remedies against Trade Injuries that have been determined by DGTR

Build relationships, do active policy outreach, and engage with state and central level policy and decision makers to drive policy and decisions to promote the digital economy.

Engage in multi-stakeholder efforts to develop and advocate for the adoption of technology.

Manage ongoing relationships and engagements with partners to achieve project deliverables.

Develop and implement a comprehensive policy outreach strategy, including identifying and prioritising engagements with key policy and decision makers; convene a working group of key policy and decision makers to accomplish project deliverables.

Represent C-DEPs work in public meetings, collaboratives hearings, press events, conferences, coalitions, and in general communications with public officials, legislators, the media, donors, and the general public.

Additional deliverables may be assigned or adjusted based on the evolution of the program’s strategic conservation work.

Desired Qualifications Postgraduate in fields related to law or public policy or related disciplines or 2-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination.

Experience in Trade and Trade Remedy issues

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Sound understanding of the technology sector in India and globally.

Experience in leading and managing policy research and analysis, report writing, organising workshops/stakeholder meetings, prepare background documents and work with communications specialists to prepare relevant materials for wider dissemination and outreach.

Working knowledge of current government policies and governance structure in India will be highly desirable.

Creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with willingness to experiment and innovate new methods.

Strong research and data analysis skills, including ability to gather and synthesise information from multiple sources to produce high quality work products in a consistent, efficient, accurate, and timely manner

Experience working well under pressure and tight deadlines while balancing competing assignments

Experience in taking ownership of a project or process and to use problem solving skills to resolve issues

Experience in independently initiating project and initiative ideas; managing projects and initiatives through to completion
