Data & Analytics Re is the data arm of Digital & Tech Re. We create innovative analytics, data science and robust data foundation capabilities to generate data-driven insights that serve the heart of Swiss Re's business. Together with our business counterparts in Property & Casualty and Life & Health, we work daily to deliver differentiating insights, elevate underwriting excellence and effectively select and manage risk pools.
Our team is composed of an international workforce based in different locations and serving a global customer basis, with a large part of our leadership located in Zurich.
The Data Governance CoE is a team within the Data & Analytics Re. We are responsible for managing the Data Governance Framework across P&C and L&H Re Data & Analytics. This includes
- embedding Data Governance Principles within the Data & Analytics communities. It requires the maintenance of a live organizational design by preparing and executing the cross functional Data Governance Bodies being the Data Governance Forum (chaired by the Reinsurance Data Governance Lead).
- providing transparency around data ownership, stewardship and custodianship.
- building awareness around the minimum requirements for managing Data with the support from Data Culture and Training. This would include data protection requirements (e.g. Personal (sensitive) data) based on regulation, client data sharing agreement requirements (client requirement beyond regulation).
- providing operational risk management across Data & Analytics product areas and COEs with proactive mitigation measures via awareness and established business practices.
- additionally, assisting the teams in the event of materialized risk via reporting, tracking progress of the incidents and Grace issues. Coordinate GIA, external audit reviews.
The opportunity Support the Data Governance Lead on various priorities, topics and initiatives including:
- Manage and deliver data governance related projects focusing on the continuous improvement of Data & Analytics compliance e.g. data protection and intended use.
- Establish global data governance covering all pillars of the data eco-system, in particular the Foundation pillar (data blueprint, data model, data/business glossary, data dictionary, data catalogue and meta-data management processes), define and formalize roles (data ownership, data stewardship, data custodianship) and data lifecycle processes.
- Embed and monitor data governance principles users community, keeping track on breaches and execute escalation as required.
- Act as a trusted advisor on DGF processes for P&C and L&H D&A community.
- Support the Data Governance Boards and support Data Owners in various data governance related requests.
- Become a trusted advisor on a variety of Data Compliance topics within Reinsurance such as Data Protection, Access Management, Cross border data transfer, Data classification; Liaise with legal and compliance teams for Data Compliance topics for Reinsurance.
- Create and oversee implementation of required data governance standards.
- Any other job related tasks as instructed by CoE Lead.
- The position holder will interact with various stakeholders in different locations internal and external of Swiss Re
About You - Overall Experience 5-10 Years
- Relevant discipline with 3 – 7 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry.
- Demonstrable knowledge of a broad range of financial market products, processes and Data & Analytics understanding.
- Track record in the areas of data governance/ management / operations.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proven customer orientation.
- Interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English.
Behavioural Competences - Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate on different levels of seniority.
- Team player; enjoying being part of a cross-functional setup.
