Position Summary – The position of Senior Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery programs. The position will report to the VP, Infrastructure and Cloud Operations.
This individual will assume the lead role in supporting the Disaster Recovery program, coordinating DR planning, testing and mitigation activities and designing and implementing highly available solution to meet the BC/DR objectives by working with support teams comprised of subject matter experts from multiple platforms to insure recovery effectiveness.
This includes accountability for assessment and creation of lifecycle management (LCM) activities to maintain up to date technical documentation, including production & recovery configurations, application dependency maps, run books, patching schedules, overall recovery solution architecture documentation, recovery strategies / plans and vendor contract changes in support of BC/DR.
The position will also support program management for Internal change management governance and standards.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery programs for Precision Medicine Group.
- Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure that all business units have an effective and comprehensive continuity and disaster recovery plan.
- Manage and conduct scheduled DR testing through design, planning, execution, and remediation based on defined business objectives.
- Conduct reviews with business units based on criticality; at a minimum, conduct annual reviews for critical processes.
- Work closely with various business units to identify their business continuity and disaster recovery needs.
- Develop and deliver training programs on business continuity and disaster recovery best practices.
- Work closely with the Governance Risk and Compliance office and other stakeholders to ensure that the business continuity and disaster recovery programs are aligned with the overall compliance programs and policies.
- Complete and maintain the business impact analysis (BIA) to enable the execution of the business continuity plan.
- Assess, design, and develop recovery strategies to meet RTO/RPO and conduct periodic testing to document recoverability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define RTO, RPO requirements for identified systems and applications.
- Perform application discovery and dependency mapping exercises for existing system and new acquisition to determine and document BC/DR requirements.
- Direct lifecycle management (LCM) activities to maintain up to date technical documentation, including production & recovery configurations, application dependency maps, run books, patching schedules, overall solution architecture document, recovery strategies / plans and vendor contract changes.
- Serve as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert for new and existing BC and DR planning and recovery objectives.
- Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders to assess strengths and weaknesses in the program and ensure adequate resources are allocated to the most critical functions needing attention.
- Present the current state of recovery capabilities to senior management and stakeholders and seek their approval as well as acceptance of feedback and required changes.
- Build relationships with business leaders, technical teams, governance and third parties to incorporate availability and recovery needs.
- Define, create, and socialize BC planning and recovery policies signed off by senior leadership.
- Work with stakeholders, crisis management and incident response teams to define benchmarks and metrics to align the BC/DR program with expectations and set it up for success.
- Organize, communicate, and enforce BC/DR lifecycle planning, along with business impact analysis reviews.
- Review critical third-party contracts of service providers that require delivery recovery services.
- Represent disaster recovery cost requirements in the annual budgeting process.
- Support program management for PMG's change management governance and standards.
- Ensure change management policies, practices and documentation are maintained in compliance with Governance Risk and compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor (4-year) degree in Information Systems, computer science, a related field or an equivalent combination of education & experience.
- Relevant certifications such as CBCP, MBCP, or DRCE are preferred.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business continuity and disaster recovery program development.
- Experience in ITIL change management a plus.
Skills and Competencies.
- Strong understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Problem-solving, detail oriented, communication skills (verbal and written), multi-tasking, analytical skills, patience, and flexibility.
- Strong documentation skills and the advanced use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Highly organized and efficient.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with and experience working with the following compliance standards: HIPAA, Cfr part 11, GDRP
