Job Title - SRE Shared Services Engineer-1

Role Description
You will work as an SRE engineer reporting to the SRE team lead with a mandate to execute the book of work and provide support when required. The engineer role also requires the successful candidate to document their work and provide knowledge transfer to assist other team members. As DWS separates from Deutsche Bank, new policies, procedures and governance will need to be developed, deployed and adhered to. At the time of writing the primary focus for the team will be on project Proteus, which involves building out the tools in Shared Services and assisting the front-end applications which consume them migrate from on-prem Deutsche Bank to DWS Google Cloud Platform. Your input will be required to help create the engineering book of work to upgrade, integrate, automate and evolve the applications within shared services. You will also be expected to challenge any ‘status quo’ and drive value from the vendors. Understanding of sound and relevant SDLC application architecture experience is a must, as is collaborating with the team in an Agile model using Agile/DevOps orientated software tools; JIRA, Confluence, Git, GitHub, etc. You will also be expected to grow your ‘network’ outside of COO Shared Services and become known throughout DWS as a ‘go-to’ engineering SME and cross skilling as much as possible.

Your key responsibilities
- Execute the engineering book of work in an SRE model following the Agile delivery method.
- Assisting L2 with support issues as required.
- Innovate, motivate and drive efficiency within the shared services L2 operations team. Develop and grow the individuals in the team.
- Uphold DWS’ core principles and beliefs.
- Experience with a wide range of technological expertise including Google Cloud Platform infrastructure and terminology, system administration, network administration, DevOps tooling and API orchestration.
- Influence team and key stakeholders
- Detailed requirements analysis and consulting of Customers and projects within IT and near-IT businesses
- Ability to design concepts and take over development activities in a timely manner
- Lead various project activities in agreement with our customers to ensure maximum satisfaction
- Shift work to cover weekends and EMEA & US time zones.
Your skills and experience
- 5+ years’ experience on relevant technologies including Google Cloud, PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Automation and automation tools, high availability architecture principles and practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and conflict resolution skills; ability to see the macro and the micro picture.
- Previous experience in an SRE team and delivering agile workload automation projects and programs both technically and functionally through to delivery.
- 10+ years previous experience in an IT role in a fin-tech organisation is desirable.
- Working knowledge of some or all of the following: Kafka, Streamsets, Informatica,Control-M, TIBCO, AxwayMFT.
- A degree in a computing discipline is highly desired.
- 5+ years’ experience of python or other interpreted languages.
- 5+ years’ experience of web technologies ( SSL/TLS, XML, JSON, API’s (REST and SOAP).
- Experience with microservice and monolithic cloud infrastructure; it’s deployment and management by Terraform.
- 10+ years’ experience of system (Linux, Windows), network and database administration (relational and non-relational).
- Practical experience with ITSM tools (preferably ServiceNow) and with the SDLC toolchain, including the following: JIRA, JAMA, Git, GitHub (or similar git repository), Artifactory and Confluence.
- 5+ years’ experience of Ansible and/or other automation tools; Chef, Puppet, Octopus, TrueSight.
- Proven expertise in agile software development practices and DevOps; ITIL v3 Foundation Certification desirable
- Knowledge in the area of application monitoring and telemetry; creating dashboards.
- Excellent analytical capabilities
- Ability to work in a virtual team setting
- Ability to manage development projects and deliver quality solutions on time and on budget
