Job description

Job Description:

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and analytical CFD Engineer to join our team specializing in wind turbine design and analysis. As a CFD Engineer, you will play a vital role in simulating and analyzing the fluid dynamics around wind turbine components, contributing to the optimization of aerodynamic performance and overall efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Aerodynamic Simulation:
    • Utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to simulate and analyze the aerodynamic performance of wind turbine components, including blades, towers, and nacelles.
    • Evaluate the impact of wind flow, turbulence, and atmospheric conditions on component efficiency.
  • Design Optimization:
    • Collaborate with design engineers to optimize wind turbine component designs based on CFD simulations.
    • Identify opportunities for improving aerodynamic efficiency, reducing drag, and minimizing turbulence effects.
  • Wake Modeling:
    • Model and analyze the wake effects of wind turbines within a wind farm to optimize turbine spacing and layout for maximum energy extraction.
    • Collaborate with wind farm layout designers to enhance overall farm performance.
  • Heat Transfer Analysis:
    • Perform heat transfer analysis to assess the thermal performance of components, including cooling systems for electronic components within the nacelle.
  • Validation and Verification:
    • Validate and verify CFD results through comparison with experimental data and field measurements.
    • Continuously improve and refine CFD models based on real-world observations and feedback.
  • Documentation:
    • Document and communicate CFD results, methodologies, and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing aerodynamic and fluid dynamic analysis findings.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics experts, design engineers, and project managers, to integrate CFD into the design and development process.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in performing Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations for complex aerodynamic systems, preferably in the wind energy or aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency in CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and heat transfer.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex CFD results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills for working within multidisciplinary teams.
