Key Purpose / Areas of Responsibility
Key Purpose of Role:
The Mechanical Engineering Analyst is responsible for conducting CAE Analysis on a wide variety of electricity meters and other electronic packaging of piece parts, modules, and products for outdoor applications. Responsible of using analytical methods and finite element analysis to model thermal, structural and vibration behavior of engineering systems. Analyst have to also monitor design activities and provide technical solution based on analysis results for developing an optimal design.
Areas of Responsibility:
Product Design Analysis - New and Existing
. Support design and development of electromechanical products to meet requirements of load, safety, size, shape, strength, material, and manufacturability of parts and assemblies.
. Perform analysis (Thermal, Current Flow, Stress, Structural, Contact Resistance, etc) of designs and structures prepared by other engineers.
. Assess the integrity and stability of electromechanical products and other structures subjected to static, dynamic, and thermal loads using analysis tools.
. Provide analysis support through all phases of the product life-cycle from proposal, to conceptual design, design development, assembly, test, and production.
. Determine and develop creative approaches, improvements, or solutions to problems.
. Develop and maintain state-of-the-art skills in activities related to requirements, design, evaluation, and testing of electronics packaging.
. Interpret analytical results, assess design margins, prepare technical reports and presentations.
. Communicate with line management, inter-organizational personnel, and other points of contact to scope, plan, and resolve technical issues.
. Maintain detailed records of work performed and commonly used analysis inputs such as material properties, generic model components, and methodologies.
. Develop and refine analysis methodologies and practices used by the team.
. Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in industry.
Documentation
. Create detailed technical reports and/or presentations of Analysis with illustrations.
. Create product design documentation.
. Develop and maintain accompanying technical documentation.
. Maintain documentation for all projects to the required standards of the organization.
. Process and drawing document alteration requests, or equivalent engineering change process.
Key Metrics
Development of high quality mechanical analysis to agreed timelines, and costs.
Accuracy and timeliness of technical documentation.
Effectivity of solutions and improvements suggested.
Experience
Proficiency using finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS is required.
Experience in conducting multiple types of analysis (Thermal, Structural, Current, etc).
Ability to use 2D and 3D CAD systems (Creo is preferred).
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English to lead presentations and reports describing research findings and solutions.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with teams locally and globally.
Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong problem solving and time management skills.
Understanding of Manufacturing Processes - Mechanical & Electronics.
Ability to work in a team and individually.
Ability to coach and mentor team members in technical knowledge.
Project management skills would be advantageous.
