Role Summary
WSP is seeking a Project Engineer to join to join our large and growing technical support team in Bengaluru to work with our global Mining business.
The successful applicant will undertake specialist analyses related to mining projects, specifically related to tailings storage facilities, under the direction of a global team of mining, geotechnical and tailings (mine waste) engineering professionals. The applicant will report to the Mining Team Leader as part of WSP iCRC Global Mining Team, delivering the highest standards of technical work and aiding the continued success of the mining business by assisting us in our client focused delivery of projects.
The work will involve close collaboration with WSP’s leaders in mining, initially focussing on numerical analyses and tailings management solutions, and then expanding into broader mining-realted services such as rock mechanics and mining engineering support. Technical duties will include undertaking analysis, reviewing data and preparing inputs to reports for tailings storage facilities.
Responsibilities
- Support tailings design studies and related analyses
- Undertake design tasks as part of multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting assignments
- Liaising with specialists from other disciplines or offices within WSP
- Undertaking analyses under direction of Senior and Principal engineers
- Delivering best practice consulting services to clients in Australia and overseas
- Local health and safety, welfare, risk, information security, and assessment / compliance
- Interfacing with multi-disciplinary project teams;
- Closely work with WSP’s global Mining team;
- Acknowledge the global Mining team business needs (requirements) and user stories;
- Translate user stories or business needs (requirements) into technical tasks including design analyses;
- Document tasks and times estimated within development tracking software (e.g. Jira);
- Supervise technical team work to its completion within budget and time;
- Ensure the delivery of technical packages in FLAC or other software;
- Quality Assuring the work and outputs from that team;
- Identify opportunities to upskill existing technical resources or recruit new capabilities to deliver additional services or enhance existing ones;
- Contributing to the experience database to support the efficient delivery of future projects.
Key Competencies / Qualities
Mandatory Skills
- Excellent spoken and written English
- A solid education background in geotechnical, civil or mining engineering
- A strong technical background in geotechnical, civil or mining engineering with proven expertise in numerical analyses
- Willing to learn new software codes
Desired Skills
- Previous exposure to the mining industry
- Ability to challenge the status quo and apply innovation in day-to-day work
Qualifications
Educated to Bachelor / Master’s degree level in geotechnical, civil or mining engineering
Skills Required : mining operations, mining engineering, geotechnical, Mine Planning, Civil Site Engineering, FLAC, Plaxis
Experience : 5 to 8 Years
