JOB PURPOSE
Janes is recruiting a Sourcing and Triage Analyst for the Bangalore office in India. The Analyst will be responsible for analysing Janes data sources, understanding the Janes entity classification, verification, tagging and distribution of sourced data using the Janes analyst workbench system in an automated data platform and make sure the content is distributed to various content analysis team in the Janes Research & Data Analysis department. Identify & validate the entities using the NER (Named entity recognition) models and provide feedback to the AI/ML team that will help the NER /ML service model development as a continuous process.
Involve in the Janes data source compliance checks using the standard compliance & governance practices.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AT JANES
• As part of the Sourcing & Triage team, identify, and analyse relevant sources to Janes for data harvesting using the Janes sourcing engine. These sources could be websites, social media handles, RSS feeds and multi-media platforms etc.
• Verification, validation, tagging & distribution of sourced data (News, press releases, specification, military equipment , events within the Janes Analyst Workbench platform (JAWS) to enable the data to be effectively utilized by various research data and analysis (RD&A) teams within Janes.
• Understanding of data engineering practices, Entity classification and contributing to the Janes content classification and identification using the NER (Named Entity Recognition) model.
• Good understanding of Defense strategic intelligence and its application in the Defense industries
• Past experience of using Data platforms and automated system
• Work towards de-duplicating and clustering of sourced data along with the development and RD&A (Research, Data & Analysis) teams.
• Collaborate with various cross functional teams in the research and analysis department to carry out requirements gathering for their sourcing requirements and support the teams in terms of content research and delivery.
• Track the efficacy and reliability of sources for efficient utilization of sourced data and future sourcing capabilities.
• Coordinate the work allocation of the team by prioritising tasks as per deadline.
• Conduct Quality Audits of tasks of the team and ensure a plan of action is in place to ensure errors do not recur.
THE IDEAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THIS ROLE
• Bachelor degree or higher in defense strategic studies or relevant field
• Deep interest in the defence technology & procurement, geopolitics, security, and risk domains
• Ability to conduct open-source online research related to the above domains.
• Ability to demonstrate the data classification, architecture in the defense area of defense domain.
• Good understanding of taxonomy and ontology modelling is an advantage
• Understanding and usage of AI/ML models and training sets used to design NER/ Language models.
• Experienced in working with different kind of data sources and its classification.
• Keen attention to detail and ability to work under daily deadlines.
• Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint applications.
• Strong verbal and written language skills in English are essential.
• Proficiency in a foreign language other than English is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Python and Power BI are added advantage.
