Job description

Yuwa India is seeking a full-time Technical Director for 35+ youth coaches who are supporting more than 650 adolescent girls in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand. The role will be to rapidly up-skill the existing football coaches and coordinators to improve the overall quality of football--while also cultivating a positive, inclusive, and empowering team culture across the programme. Initial hiring for a trial period of 6 months, with assessment at 6 months for permanent position.

About Yuwa

Yuwa is an internationally acclaimed non-governmental organization that uses soccer and education to put girls in charge of their own futures. Yuwa is registered as a Trust in India and as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the USA. Yuwa is based in villages in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand, where girls are especially at risk of dropping out of school, child marriage, gender-related violence, and human trafficking. Through the creation of soccer teams, girls gain leadership skills and confidence, continue their education, and are less likely to be forced into child marriage. Here, teamwork is a powerful force to promote health, education and improved livelihoods among the most important agents of change—young women .

Technical Coordinator responsibilities include:

  1. Live in the village of Ormanjhi (approximately 15 kilometers from the city of Ranchi) and will be okay with working odd hours.
  2. Lead all the on-field operations during daily training sessions. Overseeing football teams in the morning and evening 6 times a week. 
  3. Directly managing the head coach and coordinators with daily check in meetings to understand the happenings on all 15+ grounds.
  4. Collecting daily assessments and reviews of the existing coaches. 
  5. Tracking attendance for all teams, keeping coaches accountable for entering accurate records for their teams every practice. 
  6. Maintain positive, meaningful relationships with players, coaches, parents, and community leaders. 
  7. Teach Football technical skills, tactics, and techniques for game development at individual and team levels; identify an action plan on the strengths and development areas for athletes.
  8. Assist in planning, organizing, and execution of match/competition events and travel to tournaments with the athlete squads as and when required; prepare players mentally and physically before a competition. 
  9. Help in conducting the coaching licensing for those existing coaches that are keen.
  10. Conducting periodic training both for existing coaches and to onboard new coaches.
  11. Gathering the hours worked by each coach and calculating the monthly salary for all direct reports. 
  12. Working with the school and founders to seek out appropriate opportunities for the players.
  13. Leading weekly Sunday meetings to plan the sessions for the next week along with all the coaches.
  14. Select and then develop practice schedules for the Yuwa competitive teams. 
  15. Assist in periodic football progress updates for Yuwa sponsors.
  16. Manage the bus routes for practices.
