Job description

As a Quality Engineer specializing in fabrication and process equipment, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of fabricated components, equipment, and systems used in manufacturing processes. You will develop and implement quality control procedures, conduct inspections and audits, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues.

Responsibilities: Develop and implement quality control procedures and inspection criteria for fabricated components, process equipment, and systems, ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer specifications. Conduct inspections, tests, and evaluations of fabricated components and equipment to verify conformance to design specifications, tolerances, and performance requirements. Investigate quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints, using root cause analysis tools and methodologies to identify underlying causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements, conduct supplier audits and assessments, and monitor supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications. Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve efficiency in fabrication processes, implementing lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies as needed. Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and non-conformances, preparing reports and documentation to communicate quality performance metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives. Provide training and support to production teams and quality inspectors on quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and quality management systems to ensure compliance and consistency in quality practices. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications, staying informed about relevant regulations and standards related to fabrication and process equipment.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. Certification in Quality Engineering (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) is a plus. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in quality engineering roles, with a focus on fabrication and process equipment in manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding techniques, machining processes, and mechanical assembly, with expertise in quality control methods and tools. Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001), quality standards (e.g., ASME, AWS), and regulatory requirements related to fabrication and process equipment. Experience with root cause analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and other quality improvement methodologies and tools. Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and software (e.g., Minitab) for data analysis and process improvement. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex quality issues, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
