What is the BSP/Alcentra Accountant– FT Alternative A/P group responsible for - We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Associate to join our finance team. BSP has significant AUM and anticipates continuous formation of new fund vehicles. With anticipated aggressive growth, it will be the goal of the accountant to contribute to the increased demands with an emphasis on the quality and professionalism of the work product. The associate is responsible for maintaining the accounting books, records for FT Corporate entities, including preparation of journal entries, supporting schedules, variance analysis, adherence to financial policies and procedures, and efficient communication with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will report directly to the Finance & Accounting Manager.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a BSP/Alcentra Accountant - Review and post daily transactions.
- Review accounts payable transactions for assigned accounts on weekly basis for proper coding and classification.
- Support designated functional group team and understand the details.
- Maintain supporting schedules for assigned accounts in Blackline reconciliation tool.
- Perform monthly close process for respective functional group.
- Prepare monthly financial statements (income statements and balance sheets), variance analysis and supporting details for assigned functional group.
- Timely and effective communication with the other team members and managers, including status update for the assigned entities.
- Participate in various ad-hoc cross-departmental / cross-functional projects.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be Successful - This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or business.
- At least 2 years of financial accounting with reporting experience, preferably within multinational corporations with a matrix organizational environment.
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
- Strong problem solving and resolution skills.
- Strong written / verbal communication skills.
- Strong inter-personal skill to establish and maintain on-going working relationships with various individuals both within and outside FT Finance.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workflow and to coordinate performance of certain tasks with other teams with supervision.
- Ability to maintain updated knowledge of procedures, products, and activities of assigned.
- Experience with automated financial systems, including a general ledger, preferably Workday.
- Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including spreadsheet upload, pivot tables and related functions.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
