Job description

Definition: General ledger accountants prepare journal entries, reconcile financial statements and accounts, and ensure data accuracy. They typically report to a supervisor or manager and work with management in other departments including IT, sales operations, engineering, and legal. Most general ledger accountants work full-time in an office setting; they may occasionally work overtime to accommodate the needs of their company. Since this position involves analyzing and ensuring the accuracy of data, those who are well-suited to a career as a general ledger accountant are detail-oriented, organized, and accurate

Responsibilities and Duties:

Ø  Manage and oversee the daily operations of the General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, and Accounts Payables functions.

Ø  Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.

Ø  Reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve any issues that arise.

Ø  Prepare financial reports and assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.

Ø  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Ø  Stay updated with US property accounting regulations and implement necessary changes.

Ø  Prepare Journal Entries w ith appropriate supporting documentation, relating to amortization, depreciation, accruals, and a variety of other information.

Ø  Ensure that entries align with generally accepted accounting principles.
