Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and organized Hematology Lab Assistant to join our team at the Dental College. The Hematology Lab Assistant will work alongside the Hematology Lab Technologist to perform laboratory tests and analyses on blood and other bodily fluids to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of dental patients. The ideal candidate will have experience in laboratory procedures and an understanding of laboratory safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Collecting and preparing blood and other bodily fluid specimens for analysis
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and tools, including microscopes and centrifuges
- Performing laboratory tests and analyses on blood and other bodily fluids, including hematological tests, coagulation tests, and blood cell counts
- Preparing and staining slides for microscopic examination
- Analyzing and interpreting laboratory results, and preparing reports of findings for review by the Hematology Lab Technologist and Dentists
- Maintaining laboratory records and reports, and ensuring that laboratory protocols and procedures are followed
- Participating in laboratory quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results
- Monitoring inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment, and ordering supplies as needed
- Following laboratory safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in Hematology
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and protocols, and laboratory safety practices
- Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment and tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in a team
- Proficient in the use of computer software programs, including Microsoft Office and laboratory information management systems
